I am writing to extend my sincere gratitude to you.It is very kind of you to help me out when I was in difficulty.
As you may know,I have been addicted to the Internet for quite a while.Every day I would spend a whopping one-quarter of waking hours in the virtual world connecting with people on the net,as a substitution for real-life human connection.Having realized the harmful effects of excessive use of the Internet, you made great efforts to discourage me from Internet addiction.Fortunately, with your persistent support and selfless assistance,I have freed myself from Internet obsession now.A friend in need is a friend indeed;I am deeply indebted to you for your timely help and l will cherish our friendship forever no matter what happens.Again, please accept my heartfelt appreciation.

Certainly, every person has bad habits. Some people may be in the habit of speaking rudely; some tend to be deaf to others’ opinions; some are inclined to delay. However, there is no doubt that allowing to be controlled by bad habits does a great harm to personal development.
It is not too much to say that it is a destructive behavior to allow to be controlled by bad habits while it is constructive to change unwanted habits. If bad habits are allowed to be developed, they will get out of control and become big obstacles to life or career. For example, a delayed-prone person will hardly restrain himself from missing the deadline. Understandably, he will have few chances to be entrusted with important tasks and then will barely be professionally experienced enough to gain promotion. On the contrary, it is beneficial to change unwanted habits and acquire good ones, because good habits can make people more competent and thus widen the door to success.
In summary, bad habits will probably make it impossible for us to achieve our ambitions. Therefore, we should be alert to our bad habits and make persistent efforts to break them.

The conception of green consumption has gradually become popular in China. More and more green foods are making their appearance on the market and more and more people are becoming conscious of environmental protection.
However, there still exist quite a few difficulties in the further promotion of green consumption. On the one hand, many people are still not quite clear of the advantages of green foods. On the other hand, due to high profits, many fake green foods are found in the market. Moreover, many consumers don’t want to pay extra money for green foods.
There may be several ways to solve these problems. Firstly, the government should supervise the good quality strictly to protect consumers’ interests. Secondly, the conception of green consumption should be further promoted and emphasized. Thirdly, the government should work together with manufacturers to make the price more reasonable.

Nowadays, college students going in for business become more and more popular in campus, even many college students think that is very fashionable. As to this trend, different people have different views.
For me, every coin has two sides, thus college students going in for business has advantages as well as disadvantages, but advantages outweigh the disadvantages. As a college student, I think taking part in business when we still in college has following advantages. Firstly, doing business can develop our communication and management abilities. From purchase to sell, students must communicate with many different people, such as wholesalers and customers, so we can learn many communication skills from this process. Students also have to make some market researches to decide what we will go in for; we should find out wholesalers who can cooperate stably with us; how we set price; how we promote and so on. See, students communication and management skills can be developed from above things.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Living in the 21st century(生活在21世紀(jì)的優(yōu)缺點(diǎn))
Living in the 21st century offers certain advantages, such as a higher standard of living, but it also has some disadvantages, such as a polluted environment.
To begin with, most people now have more money for less hard work. They earn higher salaries than before and enjoy better social security, such as social welfare for laid-off workers and disability insurance.
Secondly, because of the advance in medical technology which leads to better medical care and treatment, people’s life expectancy is longer. Moreover, most people now can afford to buy foods of high nutrition and enjoy their leisure time.
There is no doubt that we should never go out there to see what happens; instead, we should take actions to make things happen. A telling example is Youyou Tu. She and her colleagues made 380 extracts from 2,00 herbs before they finally succeeded in discovering the pure substance qinghaosu, which can be used to treat malaria. As we all know, there were numerous scientists who wanted to find this substance, but it was her firm actions that made her the first Chinese Nobel laureate in medicine.
Why?Reasons are quite simple and can be listed as follows. To begin with, only by taking actions can we find the best way to solve those problems we are facing, but as a bystander, we can learn nothing meaningful. In addition, in an age full of ruthless and relentless competitions, without taking actions to make things happen, we are bound to lose those valuable opportunities. For instance, if Apple had just gone out there to see what happens in mobile phones, it could not have presented the amazing product, iPhone, to us.
Accordingly, we college students should not just be a watcher but a doer. In my humble opinion, we can start from applying what we have learned into practice.

The first reason is that I have learnt a lot from this course. My listening ability, speaking ability as well as translation ability has improved greatly after taking this course. The second reason is that I like the teacher of this course, Mr. Qin, very much.
He is a charming gentleman with great patience. His oral English is perfect, sounding like American speakers. He treated us very strict but we still like him extremely.
Just as the proverb goes, “A strict teacher produces outstanding students.” Thanks to Mr. Qin’s guidance and teachings in this course, all my classmates have made great progress in English learning.

These two cartoons show two contrasting scenes. While the male student spends all histime and money playing Internet games, the female student studies diligently. One could easilyargue that a bright future awaits the students who study hard, while those who waste tuitionplaying games have little to look forward to. The above images encourage students to valuetheir time in school and take advantage of educational opportunities.
While students dream of being accepted into college for years, they often become lost onceadmitted. Without their parents’ constant support and advice, or because of limitedcommunication with teachers, many students are unable to focus on their future goals. Suchconfusion leads some to forget their studies and resort to playing on the Internet, amongother forms of recreation.
Students should not only keep their ambitions in mind, but also seriously strive towardsthem.Without a clear purpose, one might easily waste crucial years neglecting one’s studies.
Constantly playing on the Internet leads to failure, while continuously studying guaranteessuccess. Students need to appreciate their time in school, and work hard in order to ensure agood future.

Extravagant Spending on College Campus
According to a survey, in recent years the monthly expenditure of a college student has been on the sharp rise. Many college students have no concept of thrift in their mind. They take it for granted that they spend money from their parents before they enter into the society. This extravagant spending is primarily caused by the following factors.
First of all, nowadays most of the students are the only children of their families. They are the apple in their family’s eyes and naturally get more care and pocket money. In addition, with the improvement of living standards, parents can afford higher expenditure of their children. Moreover, some students like to pursue fashion and trends, which tend to need more money. Finally, campus love is also a possible factor causing extravagant spending.
From my point of view, a college student, as a pure consumer, should learn to be thrifty. We should limit our expenditure on daily necessities but not buy whatever we want regardless of their prices. The habit of thrift can help us form right values and is favorable to our future development.

The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies
The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies

The Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies
Each year, millions of Chinese college students sit for qualifying examinations for graduate studies, primarily in Master’s programs. Students prepare for those examinations either through years of arduous self-education or by spending large sums of money attending local training schools. The publishing of examinations-related study materials and the training programs offered, both online and offline, have combined to form a sizable industry.
An alarming fact about this craze is that most students pursue graduate studies not out of their voluntary will. Faced with the harsh reality in the employment market, which is forever looking for graduates with higher degrees, many college graduates find going to graduate schools is a good way to avoid unemployment and to enhance one’s competitiveness in future job hunting.
However, without that voluntary initiative, most students who do enter graduate schools are not motivated. For them, the only thing that ultimately counts is the degree or the diploma which they expect could give them an upper hand against other job hunters. As to the actual substance of their graduate studies, it’s not a big deal for them, as long as it leads to that degree or diploma. It is really pathetic to see that students undertake graduate studies with an ulterior motive—not for the sake of loving what they study, but for the sake of merely landing a job, which in many cases might be unrelated to what they have studied.
The chill truth is that students soon find their anticipations are a mere dream. As so many undergraduates proceed onto graduate studies, the employment situation remains as severe as ever. Instead of bringing about apparent competitive edges, two or three years of additional academic training is simply a waste of time and energy. They need to reflect on this craze and would have been better off distinguishing themselves with outstanding knowledge and skills when they were undergraduates.
