Finally, the eagle was too tired to breathe, but he still didn't catch a chicken and shouted, "I don't do it!" The chickens also called, "do not do it without doing it, cowardly!" After that, the chickens loosened their hands and left their mother's protection and relaxed their vigilance. When the eagle saw, the opportunity came, he threw the chicken, finally grabbed one, and cried happily, "ha ha, I caught it." Of course, the chick that was caught was not convinced, and said, "no, no, it's going to come back." "When, Dangdang, when, Dangdang..." with the development of society, more and more people today are realizing the importance of education. for a nation, its future depends upon the moral and intellectual level of its people. for a person, a good education means a good job and the security of a good life. epanding university enrollment is a practical way to promote education nationwide. no wonder so many people support the policy of epanding enrollment, for few people don't want to lead a happy life and have a bright future.
i agree with the majority of people on the whole, but we must realize that epanding enrollment will bring about some problems, first of all, more students will have to share the limited educational resources. as a result, there will be fiercer competition among students, which will add to their burden which is already very heavy.
nevertheless, we should take a positive attitude towards the problems. the epanding enrollment will result in far more advantages than disadvantages. as students, we should treasure the opportunity to go to college, we should try to gain as much knowledge as we can on the one hand and cultivate our abiiity on the other. in this way, we can do our share to help improve our national education.

What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear the word "Dubai"? The first 7-star hotel in the word? Or the world's tallest building ,the 828-meter-high Burj Khalifa? But people in Dubai don't think that's enough. They want to show the world a different side of the city. Not long ago ,the Middle East's first 3-D pavement art festival started in Dubai and caught many people's eyes.

Dubai's famous high-rise buildings were in the background. The 3-D drawing was so vivid that many vistors liked to sit on it and take photos.

More and more students are doing part-time work today. Students working part time usually have a positive attitude towards this extracurricular experience. Besides earning some money to support themselves, they can learn a lot which cannot be learned from textbooks. They will learn to get along with different kinds of people, get useful working experiences and learn the value of labor.
However, there are also some disadvantages in students doing part-time work. For example, too much work may cut into student's study time when they should get the best out of their college life and lay a good foundation of knowledge for their college life and lay a good foundation of knowledge for their future work. Another disadvantage is that money earned, if not properly used, may lead to some bad habits, or even greed.
Good or bad, it is not easy for students to get part-tithe jobs in China now. Even if they do get some work, they are often badly paid. To change the situation, the society should develop a fresh look at students doing part-time work and provide them with opportunities in applying what they learn in the classroom to the real life situation of our society.
When we’re in a good mood, we shine like the sun. But if we find ourselves in the presence of a person, or people, in a grumpy mood, it can feel like a dark cloud approaching to dim our radiance and block our positive way of seeing the world. We can remind ourselves that clouds pass, while the sun and stars continue to shine above. Then it’s easier to think of these “grumps” affectionately, knowing that they only have the power to affect our mood if we allow it. With the power of change firmly in our hands, we can choose how to respond to a grumpy person, or a grumbling group of people, with confidence and understanding.
Like a lighthouse, we can continue to shine through the darkness, offering our light to help others find their way back to their own. We can send them a silent prayer of peace or a sympathetic smile. We may sense that reaching out to offer a comforting touch or hug can ease their frustrations and cause the clouds to dissipate. If they need understanding, we can sympathize without reinforcing the negativity they may be experiencing by directing their attention someplace more positive. Helping them find the humor in their situation might be appropriate and is a great way to lift spirits, or a logical approach may help them see all the good in the situation, in their lives and in the world.
We might find that someone we encounter often seems to be in a perpetual state of gloom. Our tendency in such cases may be to try to avoid them, but instead we can make the choice to offer support that comes from the heart. We may be inspired to ask if they would like some help or to offer suggestions that have helped us in the past. We can include thoughts of their health and happiness in our times of prayer and meditation. When we lend our energy to uplift another in any way, we improve our own lives while making the world a better place for all of us.
i leaned against a poplar tree and gazed towards the descending sun. it was no longer overbearing with its blinding glare but looked as lovely as a big orange. it had cast a golden glow over everything and gave the world a transient gilded dignity and a poetry that almost moved me to tears. hello, beautiful world! a voice rose from the depth of my heart. i was so grateful to be able to see all these brilliant things which i had neglected for so long.
really, i was not so contented with life before i had that eye surgery. it hurt terribly. but bodily pain is nothing compared with the pain of a sinking and depressed heart as i had to live in complete darkness for two weeks. from the first minute i was shut up in that intangible, vast and some what sinister darkness, i became aware of the priceless gift i had been bestowed - my eyesight. how i would long to see! i sat on the lawn, my fingers lingered on the supple leaves, my heart felt the subtle elasticity of the earth. green, green... the color of life is wonderful!
cheerful little birds jumped about me, chirping. they irritated me by their teasing chattering. i felt as helpless as a trapped beast. the darkness was immense, thick, suffocating. i turned to my memory for help and tried to recollect some old fragments of pictures stored in my mind. but my mind was a blur.
i understood for the first time that actually i had been blind since long ago. day after day i bustled on proudly wearing a pair of ornaments and saw nothing. the beauty, the loveliness had escaped me long ago. it was in darkness that i first saw myself.
how pitiably blind i had always been! the awareness wrenched my heart with a sharp twinge.
the day i got rid of the bandages on my eyes was unforgettably splendid. i opened my eyes timidly, amazed by the glorious world bathed in the sun. at that time i saw, i saw rippling grass with dripping greenness, i saw little sparrows hopping here and there, bobbing their heads up and down, i saw the vast sky peacefully looking down at me with that purity and dignity which refined my soul. i was so grateful that my eyes were blurred with tears.
being blind once had forced me to discover the blindness in my soul; at the cost of pain i tasted again the sweetness of life. what a blessing!

mooncakes are to mid-autumn festival what mince pies are to christmas. the seasonal round cakes traditionally have a sweet filling of lotus seed paste or red bean paste and often have one or more salted duck eggs in the center to represent the moon. and the moon is what this celebration is all about. mid-autumn festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month, it is the time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and fullest. this year the festival falls on october 1.
there are two legends which claim to explain the tradition of eating mooncakes. one tang dynasty myth holds that the earth once had 10 suns circling it. one day all 10 suns appeared at once, scorching the planet with their heat. it was thanks to a skillful archer named hou yi that the earth was saved. he shot down all but one of the suns. as his reward, the heavenly queen mother gave hou yi the elixir of immortality, but she warned him that he must use it wisely. hou yi ignored her advice and, corrupted by fame and fortune, became a tyrannical leader. chang-er, his beautiful wife, could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. and thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon, the moon fairy.
the second legend has it that during the yuan dynasty, an underground group led by zhu yuan zang was determined to rid the country of mongolian dominance. the moon cake was created to carry a secret message. when the cake was opened and the message read, an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the mongolians. it happened at the time of the full moon, which, some say, explains why mooncakes are eaten at this time.
mooncakes are usually stamped with chinese characters indicating the name of the bakery and the type of filling used. some bakeries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalised ones to friends and family. they are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. traditional mooncakes are made with melted lard, but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health.
mooncakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories. the best way to wash down one of these sticky cakes is with a cup of chinese tea, especially jasmine or chrysanthemum tea, which aids the digestion.
i am speaking not as a briton, not as a european, not as a member of a western democracy, but as a human being, a member of the species man, whose continued eistence is in doubt. the world is full of conflicts: jews and arabs; indians and pakistanis; white men and negroes in africa; and, overshadowing all minor conflicts, the titanic struggle between communism and anticommunism.
almost everybody who is politically conscious has strong feelings about one or more of these issues; but i want you, if you can, to set aside such feelings for the moment and consider yourself only as a member of a biological species which has had a remarkable history and whose disappearance none of us can desire. i shall try to say no single word which should appeal to one group rather than to another. all, equally, are in peril, and, if the peril is understood, there is hope that they may collectively avert it. we have to learn to think in a new way. we have to learn to ask ourselves not what steps can be taken to give military victory to whatever group we prefer, for there no longer are such steps. the question we have to ask ourselves is: what steps can be taken to prevent a military contest of which the issue must be disastrous to all sides?
the general public, and even many men in positions of authority, have not realized what would be involved in a war with hydrogen bombs. the general public still thinks in terms of the obliteration of cities. it is understood that the new bombs are more powerful than the old and that, while one atomic bomb could obliterate hiroshima, one hydrogen bomb could obliterate the largest cities such as london, new york, and moscow. no doubt in a hydrogen-bomb war great cities would be obliterated. but this is one of the minor disasters that would have to be faced. if everybody in london, new york, and moscow were eterminated, the world might, in the course of a few centuries, recover from the blow. but we now know, especially since the bikini test, that hydrogen bombs can gradually spread destruction over a much wider area than had been supposed. it is stated on very good authority that a bomb can now be manufactured which will be 25,000 times as powerful as that which destroyed hiroshima. such a bomb, if eploded near the ground or under water, sends radioactive particles into the upper air. they sink gradually and reach the surface of the earth in the form of a deadly dust or rain. it was this dust which infected the japanese fishermen and their catch of fish although they were outside what american eperts believed to be the danger zone. no one knows how widely such lethal radioactive particles might be diffused, but the best authorities are unanimous in saying that a war with hydrogen bombs is quite likely to put an end to the human race. it is feared that if many hydrogen bombs are used there will be universal death - sudden only for a fortunate minority, but for the majority a slow torture of disease and disintegration...
here, then, is the problem which i present to you, stark and dreadful and inescapable: shall we put an end to the human race1 or shall mankind renounce war? people will not face this alternative because it is so difficult to abolish war. the abolition of war will demand distasteful limitations of national sovereignty. but what perhaps impedes understanding of the situation more than anything else is that the term mankind feels vague and abstract. people scarcely realize in imagination that the danger is to themselves and their children and their grandchildren, and not only to a dimly apprehended humanity and so they hope that perhaps war may be allowed to continue provided modern weapons are prohibited. i am afraid this hope is illusory. whatever agreements not to use hydrogen bombs had been reached in time of peace, they would no longer be considered binding in time of war, and both sides would set to work to manufacture hydrogen bombs as soon as war broke out, for if one side manufactured the bombs and the other did not, the side that manufactured them would inevitably be victorious...
as geological time is reckoned, man has so far eisted only for a very short period one million years at the most. what he has achieved, especially during the last 6,000 years, is something utterly new in the history of the cosmos, so far at least as we are acquainted with it. for countless ages the sun rose and set, the moon waed and waned, the stars shone in the night, but it was only with the coming of man that these things were understood. in the great world of astronomy and in the little world of the atom, man has unveiled secrets which might have been thought undiscoverable. in art and literature and religion, some men have shown a sublimity of feeling which makes the species worth preserving. is all this to end in trivial horror because so few are able to think of man rather than of this or that group of men? is our race so destitute of wisdom, so incapable of impartial love, so blind even to the simplest dictates of self-preservation, that the last proof of its silly cleverness is to be the etermination of all life on our planet? - for it will be not only men who will perish, but also the animals, whom no one can accuse of communism or anticommunism.
i cannot believe that this is to be the end. i would have men forget their quarrels for a moment and reflect that, if they will allow themselves to survive, there is every reason to epect the triumphs of the future to eceed immeasurably the triumphs of the past. there lies before us, if we choose, continual progress in happiness, knowledge, and wisdom. shall we, instead, choose death, because we cannot forget our quarrels? i appeal, as a human being to human beings: remember your humanity, and forget the rest. if you can do so, the way lies open to a new paradise; if you cannot, nothing lies before you but universal death.

Sharing bike can be seen in every corner of the street, which is very popular by the public. The foreigners speak highly of sharing bike, because they can ride the bikes to look around the city and the expense is very cheap. As people enjoy the convenience of these bikes, the problem comes. We can see that many bikes have been broken and some are even put in the main road, which brings trouble to the public. Of course when the media reported the phenomenon, everybody condemned the negative behavior. Sharing bikes are public property, all the people have the responsibility to protect them, so after using them, we should just find a right place to lock them. The small act can present a person’s nature, so don’t let yourself be the rude one.

what should children do in their spare time?
today children are often busier than adults, for they have to attend some classes such as dancing and art at weekends or in the holidays.
parents think that their children will benefit from such classes. firstly, with the development of today's society, competitionwill be more and more intense. so only the more versatile people will have bright prospects. secondly, children will not waste their time playing games. instead, they can gain some knowledge. moreover, such classes can broaden their horizons.
however, i do not agree with the parents. nowadays, many children have been deprived of their free time and become mechanical learners at the price of their own interest. i think children should have the rights to enjoy their childhood, and to play. in their spare time they can do what they want to do. gradually they will discover what they are interestedin and do their best in respective fields.

Many people believe that money is the most important thing in life. It seems impossible to live without money in today’s society. With money, people can buy bigger house, fancy cloths, expensive food, luxurious cars and travel all around the world. Money leads to a better life and ensure people’s basic needs. Money is also stand for wealth and social status. If one makes countless money, then he is a successful man. As to some young girls, money is the only measure to access a man. If a man has a new apartment and a new car, he will be the “hot stuff” in the girls’ eye. They marry for money rather than for love. Just like the old Chinese saying goes, money makes the mare go. Making more money has become a major goal in the eye of some people. They value money more than anything else in the world.
Different people have different opinions of money. Some people spare no effort to make money, such as stealing, gambling and cheating. They believe money can bring them everything. However, I don’t think money can make people really happy or bring people everything. People can not use money to buy health. Steven Jobs, the founder of the Apple Company, died of cancer. He was a billionaire, but he couldn’t use money to buy himself a longer life. And money can not buy the time that already slip away. Money is also a tool for us to exchange materials, but not all the stuff. We should have a right attitude towards money. We should earn money by honest means and spend it probably. Only in this way, money can make us happy.
