My Views on Examination
Nowadays the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject in most colleges and universities. Although it is efficient, its side effects are also enormous.
On the one hand, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. taught successfullywith minations. On the other hand, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. A the examinations corejis the only criterion for his academic performance students driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively.
In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students' academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?

The Importance of Selfducation
Selfducation brings success. Though we students have teachers to help us, still we should pay more attention to selftudy. Here are some suggestions.
First, read outside our class. Every new book one reads will benefit him in one way or another. The more we read, the more we are benefited. As life is short and knowledge is infinite, we should try to read as many books as we can.
Second, improve our memory and reasoning powers. If we read more and more, we can make our memory and reasoning powers improve to some degree. Moreover, we shall be able to write more clearly and correctly.
Third, develop our character. When we have formed the habit of reading, we can put into practice what they have taught and build up a good character.
In a word, if we want to educate ourselves, the most important thing for us to do is to read not only our textbooks, but also any other books that are within our reach.

Online open courses are gaining popularity in recent years. Following globally famous universities like Yale and Harvard, some universities in China have also started to offer online open courses. Those courses have attracted people from all classes with different occupations.
The courses have brought many benefits to people. Many of the courses are provided by universities in foreign countries, and thus offer fresh ideas to us. Through them, we can keep up with what people are thinking all over the world. But that can also be a problem. Some of the courses may not be very suitable for Chinese students because of cultural differences and may cause chaos on Chinese campus.
In my opinion, online open course is useful and we should make use of it to broaden our horizons. But we should also remember to have our own thinking and not be brainwashed by improper ideas.

There are many reasons for my decision to study for postgraduate programs, one of which is the value of a master' s degree. It ensures me a secure future in a society in which college graduates in mounting numbers failed to be employed.
First, there is a recognition that a candidate with a master' s degree will have an competitive advantage over those with only a bachelor' s degree. Five years ago when college population accounted for only 30 percent of the people of the same age, it was easy for a college graduate to get a good job in any field. But now things are quite different. Second, the higher education you have, the higher salary you will receive. Just look at some big companies which compete against each other to recruit skilled personnel.
Briefly speaking, more knowledge means more opportunities. More years of academic studies will help equip you with more knowledge and skills. Then if conditions change, you can slip with comparative ease from one field into another, avoid the pain of waking up to find yourself out of a job.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay on the topic How to Spend Money Wisely with Credit Card based on the picture belo You can cite examples to illustrate your point. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
Credit card offers a convenient way to buy goods but every coin has two sides. From the cartoon above we see that credit card can lead to unmanageable debt and financial crisis if used unwisely. So people should keep in mind the risk of using credit card and try to spend money st, before applying a credit card, people should make sure whether they can afford to pay back money spent on the card. Second, it is very important to work out what kind of card meets their needs. Third, people should try to pay their balance in full every month, or they will be charged interest and have negative effects on their credit scores. Finally, since some cards have high interest rates and fees when failing to pay back, it is necessary to work out the cost before using the cards.

The two-day weekend has brought a lot of benefits to college students. It not only offers us more time to get rid of tiredness and have a good rest, but also gives us more chances to take up some hobbies, such as fishing, reading, or gardening. From these activities we can learn many things outside the classroom, which will add to our knowledge.
Despite the convenience it brings us, the two-day weekend has also given rise to quite a few problems. The most serious one is that the weekdays are filled with more lesson, sometimes too many. Because our classes are limited to Monday through Friday, we have to take more lessons each day than in the past. This leaves us little time to catch our breath during the weekdays.
In order to benefit most from the two-day weekend, I have decided to make a good plan for the two-day weekend. Of course I should take this chance to relax. But during the weekend, I will still set aside enough time to study. By doing so ii can have a good time as well as make progress in my studies.

Recently more and more educator and common citizens suggest that universities colleges open more courses which are helpful for students psychological health. Personally, I fully agree with their proposal for the following reasons.
On the one hand, the ever-increasing pressure of study at the moment and job-hunting in the future may lead to many psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and even despair, and the psychological courses open a door for communication and relaxation. On the other hand, such courses can teach students how to regulate feelings and emotions under different situations, which is a good preparation for the future life in the complex social network. Finally, these courses also introduce good habits which are conducive to mental and psychological health. To be mature and qualified citizens in the society, students have to do more than study hard.
In a word, I warmly welcome the establishment of psychological courses in universities. In my mind, they are good for students psychological development.

The famous saying Practice makes perfect is widely accepted today. It means if we practice unfamiliar things again and again, well be able to perform it perfectly.
The practice of learning English is a good example. We are not living in an English speaking country. So, in order to learn it well, we need extra practice, such as reading English books, going to English corners, or communicating with foreigners. Only sitting at the desk cannot lead to the mastery of English.
As another example, if we want to be skilled in using the computer, we also need to practice using it. Some children become little experts in computer, just because they play with it everyday. On the contrary, if we just stick to books, we will still feel confused when using computers. Judging from the evidence offered, we might safely draw the conclusion that practice makes perfect.

Recently it has become a common phenomenon for college students to have two majors at the same time. In this way, they can get double BA degrees when they graduate from the university several years later.
Although it may bring unfavorable consequences, we can be sure to conclude that this practice is favorable on the whole. To begin with, most students will become more hardworking and efficient in order to finish the learning tasks satisfactorily. Moreover, with two degrees at hand after graduation, they will stand a better chance in the job market full of fierce competition. In the third place, as for today's university students, tuition and fees are becoming more and more expensive. If they can make achievements in study at school and find a satisfactory job afterwards, it will not be a big problem.
Weighing the pros and cons of such a new trend, we can naturally arrive at the conclusion that it is beneficial and rewarding. This system not only compels students to work hard, but also prepares them for the coming competition.

When looking for a job, you will most likely have a job interview first. This seems to be in fashion no Through the interview the interviewer and the interviewee can talk face to face, which provides a way for them to know each other better.
On the one hand, the interviewer can introduce the main aspects of the job opening to the interviewee, such as the specific requirements for the job, the working conditions, and the wages and benefits the interviewee will get.
On the other hand, the interviewee also has a chance to give the employer a good impression. He can talk with confidence and show the interviewer how well he is educated and how good his working ability is. And it will be better if he emphasizes that this is the very job he wants and he3 won' t cast an eye on any other jobs. The interviewer will most probably be moved.
Through the job interview, people who look for a job will have a better chance of getting a good one and those who need people to do a job will have a better chance of finding someone that is qualified.

How to Solve the Problem of Heavy Traffic
Nowadays, China‘s cities are getting increasingly crowded. The rapid increase in population is being made worse by the steady influx of people from the rural areas seeking employment. As a result, heavy traffic is a big headache, with all the roads packed with cars, bicycles and pedestrians.
In my opinion, there are two ways to solve the problem. One is to build more and wider roads to make the public highways less crowded and speed up the flow of traffic. The other is to expand the number of public bus routes, so that more people can be transported and fewer people will have to travel by car or bicycle.
However, each of these solutions brings problems with it. The former may occupy too much land that could be used for farms or houses; the latter may cause inconvenience for long periods in bus lines. I think the best answer to the problem of heavy traffic is a combination of the two: build more roads in places where land is less useful, and at the same time increase the number of public bus routes.

Direction:For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a position on the topic :Cell Phones .You should write no less than 120 words and base your position on the outline below:
Cell Phones
As is shown in the chart, cell phones are being increasingly popular within China. In 1999, the number of cell phones in use was only 2 million, but in 20xx, the number reaches 5 million. And in the year 20xx, the number has suddenly soared to 9 million. There are many factors contributing to this development. Firstly, a cell phone has no wires and can be carried everywhere easily. Secondly, a cell phone is something wonderful that we can have fun with news, games, music and chat through sending short messages. Thirdly, the drop in price and the simultaneous improvement in the functions have made it possible for an average person to make use of cell phone. The wide use of cell phones has made them more and more indispensable in people' s daily life. The functions of the cell phone have made certain people reluctant to separate themselves from their cell phone.
