The cartoon aims at informing us of the significance of the consciousness of innovation. Definitely, no once can deny the importance of it. A innovative spirit can promote the advancement of both individuals and society as a whole. only those who are keeping on creating new things can make continuous progress and maintain competitive edge. To further illustrate the importance of innovation, I would like to take Steve Jobs as a case in point: how could he, a genius who change the way of modern communication, recreation and even our life, invent so many powerful electronic products without a creative spirit ?
From my perspective, at no time should we overlook the power of the consciousness of innovation. Furthermore, we need to develop a habit of discovering new things, using new methods and applying new thoughts in our work, study or simply everyday life. “Innovation is the spirit of human being’s progress.” A philosopher once said.

once upon a time there was a queen who had a beautiful baby daughter. she asked all the fairies in the kingdom to the christening, but unfortunately forgot to invite one of them, who was a bit of a witch as well. she came anyway, but as she passed the babys cradle, she said:
銆?銆?when you are siteen, you will injure yourself with a spindle and die!
銆?銆?oh, no! screamed the queen in horror. a good fairy quickly chanted a magic spell to change the curse. when she hurt herself, the girl would fall into a very deep sleep instead of dying.
銆?銆?the years went by, the little princess grew and became the most beautiful girl in the whole kingdom. her mother was always very careful to keep her away from spindles, but the princess, on her siteenth birthday, as she wandered through the castle, came into a room where an old servant was spinning.
銆?銆?what are you doing? she asked the servant.
銆?銆?im spinning. havent you seen a spindle before?
銆?銆?no. let me see it! the servant handed the girl the spindle ... and she pricked herself with it and. with a sigh, dropped to the
floor.
銆?銆?the terrified old woman hurried to tell the queen. beside herself with anguish, the queen did her best to awaken her daughter but in vain. the court doctors and wizards were called, but there was nothing they could do. the girl could not be wakened from her deep sleep. the good fairy who managed to avoid the worst of the curse came too, and the queen said to her,
銆?銆?when will my daughter waken?
銆?銆?i dont know, the fairy admitted sadly.
銆?銆?in a years time, ten years or twenty? the queen went on.
銆?銆?maybe in a hundred years time. who knows? said the fairy.
銆?銆?oh! what would make her waken? asked the queen weeplng.
銆?銆?love, replied the fairy. if a man of pure heart were to fall in love with her, that would bring her back to life!
銆?銆?how can a man fall in love with a sleeping girl? sobbed the queen, and so heart-broken was she that, a few days later, she died. the sleeping princess was taken to her room and laid on the bed surrounded by garlands of flowers. she was so beautiful, with a sweet face, not like those of the dead, but pink like those who are sleeping peacefully. the good fairy said to herself,
銆?銆?when she wakens, who is she going to see around her? strange faces and people she doesnt know? i can never let that happen. it would be too painful for this unfortunate girl.
銆?銆?so the fairy cast a spell; and everyone that lived in the castle - soldiers, ministers, guards, servants, ladies, pages, cooks, maids and knights - all fell into a deep sleep, wherever they were at that very moment.
銆?銆?now, thought the fairy, when the princess wakes up, they too will awaken, and life will go on from there. and she left the castle, now wrapped in silence. not a sound was to be heard, nothing moved ecept for the clocks, but when they too ran down, they stopped, and time stopped with them. not even the faintest rustle was to be heard, only the wind whistling round the turrets, not a single voice, only the cry of birds.
銆?銆?the years sped past. in the castle grounds, the trees grew tall. the bushes became thick and straggling, the grass invaded the courtyards and the creepers spread up the walls. in a hundred years, a dense forest grew up.
銆?銆?now, it so happened that a prince arrived in these parts. he was the son of a king in a country close by. young, handsome and melancholy, he sought in solitude everything he could not find in the company of other men: serenity, sincerity and purity. wandering on his trusty steed he arrived, one day, at the dark forest. being adventurous, he decided to
eplore it. he made his way through slowly and with a struggle, for the trees and bushes grew in a thick tangle. a few hours later, now losing heart, he was about to turn his orse and go back when he thought he could see something through the trees . . . he pushed back the branches . . .. wonder of wonders! there in front of him stood a castle with high towers. the young man stood stock still in amazement,
銆? i wonder who this castle belongs to? he thought.
銆? the young prince rode on towards the castle. the drawbridge was down and, holding his horse by the reins, he crossed over it. immediately he saw the inhabitants draped all over the steps, the halls and courtyards, and said to himself,
銆?銆?good heavens! theyre dead! but in a moment, he realised that they were sound asleep. wake up! wake up! he shouted, but nobody moved. still thoroughly astonished, he went into the castle and again discovered more people, lying fast asleep on the floor. as
though led by a hand in the complete silence, the prince finally reached the room where the beautiful princess lay fast asleep. for a long time he stood gazing at her face, so full of serenity, so peaceful, lovely and pure, and he felt spring to his heart that
love he had always been searching for and never found. overcome by emotion, he went close, lifted the girls little white hand and gently kissed it . . .
銆?銆?at that kiss, the prlncess qulckly opened her eyes, and wakening from her long long sleep, seeing the prince beside her, murmured:
銆?銆?oh, you have come at last! i was waiting for you in my dream. ive waited so long!
銆?銆?just then, the spell was broken. the princess rose to her feet, holding out her hand to the prince. and the whole castle woke up too. everybody rose to their feet and they all stared round in amazement, wondering what had happened. when they finally realised, they rushed to the princess, more beautiful and happier then ever.
銆?銆?a few days later, the castle that only a short time before had lain in silence, now rang with the sound of singing, music and happy laughter at the great party given in honour of the prince and princess, who were getting married. they lived happily ever after, as they always do in fairy tales, not quite so often, however, in real life.

Nowadays, there has been a heated discussion as to the relationship between parents and children. Views on the topic vary greatly among people from different walks of life. Some believe that parents should spend more time with their children, but others consider it better to ask children to show more understanding towards their parents.
On one hand, I agree with the idea that as children, we should show more understanding and appreciate the love and life our parents have provided us with. Therefore, we could help our parents at home, say, share some of the housework. Furthermore, we could also tell them “I love you” every day to thank them. On the other hand, working parents are busy and have great pressure, so it is likely that they neglect their kids. Hence, to improve their relationship, parents could sit down and talk with their children, listen to their problems, help them and respect them.
However, from my perspective, this is not one man’s job. Both parents and children should work to understand each other. Thus, it is crucial to have effective communication. Only in this way can the relationship between parents and children be improved!

dear president:
i am a student who lives on campus and uses canteen services everyday. i would love to share my opinion on the services i received. also, i have some suggestions on how to improve the canteen services so that the students can be better served.
first, i think the choice of food is limited. we only have three choices of food everyday, and the menu is the same for every three days. i feel tired about the food because i have the same thing every three days. also, the taste is not as good as the home-made one because they put too much salt on the food. i think it is bad for the students health.
second, the people who work in the canteen provide a very bad services to the students. they work very slow and have poor manner. we have to wait on a line for 5 minutes in order to get food. you know how precious the time is, especially for students. they just act and response in a very slow way. and when you ask them questions about the food, such as what that is, and how the food taste, those workers just simple answer i dont know in a poor manner.
i think the canteen services need to be improved. students who live on campus will treat canteen like home because that is a place where they eat. however, the canteen just cannot give students a very harmony environment. so i think the canteen services really need improvement.
i hope it helps!

nowadays, tuition and fees for college are much higher than ever before. how to finance your college education has become a matter of concern for many. you can deal with it in many ways. you can get all of the money from your parents. you can apply for a loan especially set up for college students. you can also acquire the money completely by yourself, doing a full-time job in summer and winter holiday. in addition, you can ask your parents for most of it and earn the rest in your spare time in college, by doing a part-time job.
in my opinion, i prefer the last way. having acquired most of the tuition and fees from my parents, i needn’t worry too much about the money and can concentrate on my study; on the other hand, a part-time job in my spare time makes my compus-life colorful. i can make a lot of friends, improve my abilities and learn lots of knowledge.
so, i choose this way to cover my tuition and fees.

mankind is wasting things every'where and everyday. wherever we go, we can see that paper, bottles and cans are thrown away; food is wasted just because of poor taste; clothes are discarded simply due to their old fashion. not only things and money are wasted, but natural resources are abused as well. trees are cut down merely for fuel; wild animals are killed simply for meat and fur; oil and coal are eploited in a bad way.
the worst eample of man's waste is the waste of time. many people tend to spend their time on worthless things, such as wandering about in the street, gossiping in the office, sleeping too much during the day. as we know, time is very precious to us since it passes by and never returns. the waste of time amounts to the waste of life.
it is time to call for an end to the waste. on one hand, we must save on natural resources and make full use of them; otherwise human beings will be faced with the shortage of natural resources and suffer from the pollution caused by waste. on the other hand, we must trea sure our time. only with our time devoted to the study and the work for the people, will we never regret the life we have had.

The first time in life? Then grasp your chance with your perfect performance on the dating night, by learning the following principle in heart.
Dress properly. While everyone wants to give an impressive debut on the first date, you should avoid wearing something too bizarre to be accepted. If you are still in school, a sportswear can fulfill your purpose. For businessman or grownups, casual clothes are recommended. Never put up your working uniforms,no matter how well you
like that Armani suit. It is no work. A few accessories such as a pair of sunglasses or silver loops on the wrist can add up to the romance sphere.
Take a bath before dating. And if you like, spray a
little perfume, but unless you're sure that he or she likes the smell, don't use ones that are too strong.
Watch your manner. You're no prince of the Scotland nor Cinderella in the legend. Proper manners will ensure a
lasting relationship while bad ones scare away your sweetheart. And do make sure you do not boast about your fortune, for, not everyone are green addicts. And your way of smiling, or your greatestoath, should neither be "coy" nor "by St. Loy!" after the nun in Chaucer.
Be a little sensitive than merely innocent. Do make sure you do not intrude his or her privacy on the first date. For

Everyone have a daily schedule. Most of people changes it every day, the others keep the same one every week. Actually, I have a regular weekly schedule.
Monday is one of the most important days in a week. I think I always make a weekly schedule at first, which is a good way to plan my life. For example: Last week on Monday from 8:00am to 3:40pm, which time was finishing my school class. After that, I would take a nap until 4:45pm. Then, I went to library to learn English, of course, The DynEd Courseware. It’s not good for my health that I don’t have enough time to have dinner. Between 10:00pm and 11:00pm, I practiced my body in the gymnastic because I want to lose weight. I usually go to bed at 12:00pm.I play the computer game once a week on Friday evening with my friend. One week’s work make me tired, so it’s a special time for me to have a rest. This is my daily routine from last week, include five work days.
Saturday and Sunday are different from other five days. Because I have a lot of classes, such as: karate class in Shichahai and English class in soho high street. Just I think it is more useful for me than my school class. Keep practice my body and brain are the most important things on the weekend. Usually, I finish my English work in the morning and work out in the evening. I like my life plan is very regular, which is good for my healthy. But I don’t have enough time to take a rest, maybe sometimes I feel tired. Keep doing, I will get benefits from my schedule.
All of this is my weekly schedule, my daily routine same as everyday. It ’s very interesting, my schedule make me look like an old man. Believe it or not, I will never give up and try my best to achieve my dream.

Despite the expense, there are many advantages to have the second child. For one thing, the onlychild can have someone company, so they won’t feel lonely on the process ofgrowing up. For another thing, two kids will help each other, they can sharethings together.

The Most Important Day in My LifeHave you ever been at sea in a dense fog when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore? I was like that ship before my education began, only I had no way of knowing how near the harbor was. The most important day I remember in all my life is the one on which my teacher, Anne Mansfield Sullivan, came to me. I am filled with wonder when I consider the immeasurable contrast between the two lives which it connects. It was the third of March, 1887, three months before I was seven years old. On the afternoon of that exciting day, I guessed vaguely from my mother's signs and from the hurrying to and fro in the house that something unusual was about to happen, so I went to the door and waited on the steps. I felt approaching footsteps. I thought it was my mother and stretched out my hand. Someone took it, and then I was caught up and held close in the arms of the person who had come to reveal all things to me, and, more important than that, to love me. The morning after my teacher came she led me into her room and gave me a doll. When I had played with it a little while, Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word “d-o-l-l”. I was at once interested in this finger play and tried to imitate it. When I finally succeeded in making the letters correctly I was filled with childish pleasure and pride. Running downstairs to my mother I held up my hand and made the letters for doll. I did not know that I was spelling a word or even that words existed; I simply made my fingers go in monkey-like imitation. In the days that followed I learned to spell in this uncomprehending way many words, among them, “pin”, “hat”, “cup”, and a few verbs like “sit”, “stand” and “walk”, but my teacher had been with me several weeks before I understood that everything has a name. One day while I was playing with my new doll, Miss Sullivan gave me my old doll, too. She then spelled “d-o-l-l” and tried to make me understand that “d-o-l-l” applied to both. Earlier in the day, we had a struggle over the two words “m-u-g” is “mug” and “w-a-t-e-r” is “water” , but I persisted in mixing up the two. I became impatient and, seizing the new doll, I dashed it on the floor, breaking it into pieces. I was not sorry after my fit of temper. In the dark, still world, I had no strong sentiment for anything. My teacher brought me my hat, and I knew we were going out into the warm sunshine. We walked down the path to the well-house. Someone was drawing water, and my teacher placed my hand under the spout. As the cool stream gushed over one hand, she spelled into the other word water, first slowly, then rapidly. I stood still; my whole attention was fixed upon the movements of her finger. Suddenly I seemed to remember something I had forgotten — a thrill of returning thought – and the mystery of language was revealed to me. I knew then that the “w-a-t-e-r” meant that wonderful cool something that was flowing over my hand. That living word awakened my soul and set it free. I left the well-house eager to learn. Everything had a name and each name gave birth to a new thought. As we returned to the house, every object which I touched seemed to be full of life. That was because I saw everything with a strange, new sight that had come to me. On entering the door I remembered the doll I had broken. I felt my way to the fragments and tried in vain to put them together. Then my eyes were filled with tears, for I realized what I had done, and for the first time I felt sorry. I learned a lot of new words that day. It would have been difficult to find a happier child than me when I lay in my small bed that night and thought of the joys that day had brought to me, and for the first time I longed for a new day to come.
實(shí)用的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)作文 篇17
Opportunity and Success Opportunities don't come often. They come every once in a while. Very often, they come quietly and go by without being noticed. Therefore ,it is advisable that you should value and treat them with care. When an opportunity comes, it brings a promise but never realizes it on its own. If you want to achieve something or intend to fulfill one of your ambitious, you must work hard, make efforts and get prepared. Otherwise, you will take no advantage of opportunities when they come to visit you. The difference between a man who succeeds and one who does not lies only in the way each treats opportunities. The successful person always makes adequate preparations to meet opportunities as they duly arrive. The unsuccessful person, on the other hand, works little and just waits to see them pass by. In my opinion, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone in our society, but only those who are prepared adequately and qualified highly can make use of them to achieve their purpose Nowadays, any Chinese can enjoy the luxury of owning a private car - if he or she can afford it. Having a car of your own means no more traveling to work on crowded buses or subway trains, and you can drop off the children at school on the way. Moreover, it also means that you can enjoy the weekends and holidays better, because with a car you can go to places where the regular buses and trains do not go, and so you can find a quiet scenic spot with no crowds. However, there are drawbacks to owning a car. For one thing, with the increase in car ownership in recent years, the roads are becoming more and more crowded, often making the journey to work more of a nightmare than a dream. For another, it is not cheap to run a car, as the prices of gasoline and repairs are constantly rising, not to mention the prices you have to pay for a licence and insurance coverage. Having considered both sides of the argument, I have come to the conclusion that the advantages of owning a car outweigh the disadvantages. Therefore, it seems to me that China should increase its output of automobiles and enlarge the private car market. The result would be that cars would become cheaper, while at the same time the extra demand would encourage the auto industry to produce more efficient and family-oriented vehicles. Tourism, a "smokeless industry", is developing rapidly in China. With the open and reform policy being carried out, thousands upon thousands of foreign visitors are crowding into our country. The are eager to see this old mysterious land with a splendid culture of more than 5000 years. Tourism brings China a lot of benefits. First it enables the Chinese people to know more about the outside world and promotes friendship and mutual understanding. Second , it is financially beneficial to China, which needs more foreign currencies for its modernization program. Tourism, however, gives rise to a number of problems. For instance, it becomes a burden to our inefficient transportation system. Besides, the living standard of the average Chinese is still not high enough to be able to afford the many different sorts of expenses during long distance travels. As for me, I believe that with the development of our national economy, all these problems will certainly be solved step by step. A much better and brighter future awaits As a popular saying goes, "Time is money. "In fact, time is more precious than money. When money is spent, you can earn it back if you want to. However, when time is gone, it will never come back. As the pace of modern life continues to accelerate ,the time at our disposal is quite limited. But there are a lot of things to be done in our lives. We should make full use of our time to fulfil what is useful to us. For instance, as students we should devote most of our time to our academic studies. In this way we can acquire new knowledge and skill necessary for our future carrier. In my opinion, wasting time means wasting our valuable life. But many of us don't realize this .They think time is inexhaustable. I'm not in favor of such of a view .Hence ,my conclusion is that we should never put off what can be today until tomorrow. Tuition system has become one of the hottest topics in China since it was put into effect. Different people have different opinions on it. Some people think that there is no university in the world which is open to students without tuition. As far as China is concerned, it is a developing country with the largest population in the world. The government is unable to allocate enough funds to pay for various teaching facilities and many different kinds of .

Chinese values in transition With China's rapid social and economic development in the past 30 years of reform and opening-up, some traditional Chinese values are being replaced quicly by new ones. For example, the traditional value of "Savings are good and thrift is virtue" is gradually replaced by the concept of "spending tomorrow's money for today's comfort." More and more people, especially the younger generations, are using credit cards for daily consumption or bank loans for housing and automobile purchases. New terms, such as "card slaves" and "mortgage slaves," have vividly reflected this kind of social change. For thousands of years, the Chinese take pride in their thrifty tradition, with preachings like "saving half of every penny you earn". The older generations, such as those now in their 50s or 60s, will not buy a house of their own until they have saved sufficient money to pay for it once and for all. However, their children today are buying large apartments just one year or two after their college graduation, either seeking financial support from the parents or getting loans from the banks. Many of them have to spend at least half of their monthly income on the heavy mortgage burdens. So how should we see these changes of social values in modern China? Well, it's hard to say, because every coin has two sides. Still take the saving and spending issue as an example: On the one hand, the people's willingness to spend more and even spend a lot of borrowed money is good for the economy, because it will boost domestic consumption and serve as a new engine of growth. On the other hand, it may also lead to some people's bad habit of over-spending, like what we can see in some developed countries, causing financial instability and even resulting in some kind of crisis like the one that hit Wall Street in 2008. Therefore, I believe that when we should embrace new values with an open mind, we should also cherish the good, old values and try to strike a balance between the old and the new.

The university opening ceremonythe deeply impressing feelings are as much a part of me now as they were a year ago.
As the day to register and become a freshman in FDU approached, excitementincreased.Beingauniversitystudent meant I was finally coming of age. Soon I would be on my own, making my own decisions and doing what I wanted without someone looking over my shoulder.
Despite months of anticipation, nothing could have prepared me for the impact of the actual day.Among thousands of new comers sitting on the broad lawn in front of the famous XiangHui Auditorium, listening to the speeches by the principal and student representatives, I felt myself consumed by a rush of both joy and nervousness. What would college be like? Would the other students like me? And what about the workwould I be able to keep up? Being a student in high school seemed to offer little assurance of my being able to survive college, especially in FDU which is abundant of excellent counterparts. Panic set in.It had been nice being respected as a senior by the underclass students for the past year;I didn't quite enjoy the idea of being on the bottom rung of the ladder again.I was not assured whether I wanted to grow up after all.
As if in a daze, I rose up with my new classmates around to show respect to the school song which was to be performed. As the solemn music flowed, I knew that I was hearing not just a song but the foot step of a brand new life. Exciting as the prospeet of a new life seemed, it wasn't quite easy saying goodbye to the old onethe familiar faces, the familiar routine. I would eyen miss those days when fully engaged in preparing for the college entrance exams though they were so tiring and the long commute between home and school that took me several hours each week. Good or bad, it was that I knew.
This September, I was one of the volunteers to welcome the new comers and guide them around the campus. I found the familiar mixed feelings shown on their faces. I needn't have worried about if I would like FDU, since my year here has turned out to be one of the best years of my life. Although going back to those days is impossible, it's comforting to know I can revisit my special memories any time.

What animals mean to human being, close friends or lists of recipe? Some people consider that animals should be regarded as friends instead of food or sources of clothing, while the opponents think animals are born to service for human being.
As far as I am concerned, I advocate the former's opinoin. There are two main reasons for that. First of all, it is known that more and more rare animals are endangered, because of the human being's capture. People peel off the animals' skin to make coats and use their further to make clothes, even eating the meat of extinct animals and don't care whether the food is delious or not, only because it is rare and not easily available. Which definitely leads to the extinction of certain animals. On the other hand, with the development of civilization, people should acknowledge that every creature has its right to live. Which guaranteea the harmony of the earth. Thus people need to show their respect to the animals and let them live better instead of hurting them or killing them. This behavior should be forbidden in today's civilized circumstance.
In conclusion, presently animals are no longer regarded as sources of food and clothing. In stead, animals are people's close friends who can company people especially to the olders who always like rearing the pets with whose company the olders don't feel lonely any more. For those animals who are disapearing, people need to pay more attention to them to aviod their extinction. Otherwise people could only see them in museum, not in the nature. What a pity.
