  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇1

The novel is rich in poetry, symbolism and metaphor. It does not fit easily into a definite pattern, being neither a novel of "manners" in the tradition of Austen, or a straightforward Gothic Romance in the style of Mrs Radcliffe. What Charlotte Bronte did was to create a work which cleverly blends elements of the two styles, and which remains uniquely independent of them at the same time, since it addresses issues which were at the time rather controversial.

The novel is written in the first person, and thus magnifies the central character - the reader enters the world of Jane Eyre and is transported through her experiences at first hand. This at once makes the work subjective, especially since we know that Charlottes Brontes own life and experiences were so closely interwoven with the heroine's. As well as this we learn only at the end of the novel that the events are being related to us ten years after the reconciliation with Rochester - thus the narrative is RETROSPECTIVE (looking back)。 CB is clever in blending the narrative so that at times Jane seems to be speaking as an adult with adult hindsight , while at others she she is "in the middle" of them, as a child or young woman. The indecision which is a central issue in the book, is heightened by this device. We never know, as readers, whether to be entirely trustful of Janes actions and thoughts, because we are never sure wheher she is speaking impulsively or maturely.

This intensifies the readers dilemma as to what is "right" and "wrong" in the dramatic relationships which are part of JE's life. Can we believe what the heroine says, or is she deceiving herself? The novel is primarily a love story and a "romance" where wishes come true but only after trials and suffering. The supernatural has its place, as do dreams, portents and prophesies. The heroine begins poor and lonely and ends up rich and loved; the orphan finds a good family to replace the wicked one; all the basic ingredients of classic romantic fairytale are present.

The romantic element is present in two forms in Jane Eyre; the "family" aspect is dealt with in the Gateshead, Lowood and Moor House episodes, which involve the exchanging of the wicked Reed family for the benevolent Rivers one; and the Love romance is dealt with in the Thornfield and Ferndean episodes. Both aspects are, of course linked and interwoven throughout the novel.

  learn to love and care

here i am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what i have just finished reading with tears of sadnefilling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishneof the secular world for a long time. it is truly what i felt after reading oliver twist, written by the prominent british author charles dickens.

the resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindneand the wickedneof all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what i lack deep inside. these supreme resources i’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. they’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care.

those charitable figures whom dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. they showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇3

jane eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. after we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, jane eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:

we remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.

we remember her pursuit of justice. it’s like a companion with the goodness. but still, a virtuous person should promote the goodneon one side and must check the badneon the other side.

we remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. in her opinion, everyone is the same at the god’s feet. though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.

we also remember her striving for life, her toughneand her confidence…

when we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.

her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.

this is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. the story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.

it seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with jane eyer. i am of no exception. as we refer to the movie “jane eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.

jane eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. since jane’s education in lowwood orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. the suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.as a reward of revolting the ruthleoppression, jane got a chance to be a tutor in thornfield garden. there she

  Vivid Heroine

  ——On Sister Carrie

Carrie was such an ordinary rural girl at the beginning of the story. Sitting on the seat of a bus, she couldn’t help feeling exciting at the sight of the metropolis’ spectacle. She was impressed deeply by large crowd on the avenue, the spacious square or tall buildings.

Far more different from other heroines, Carrie was not a plain pure angel like Snow-white, nor was she brave enough to be a heroine of revolutionist or even a reformer, nor was she so clever as to be a successful career woman who start from scratch.

What attracted her most, after her entering this huge metropolis was the incredible fineries, fashion shoes, smart handbags displaying in the shop windows, the jewellerys shining brightly behind the glass. She dreamed that one day, she could wear all of these, jogging gracefully into the most luxurious hotel with focused sights of admiration.

And this was not merely a dream. Because she had large eyes which can earn others’ sympathy, even love. She had wonderful figure which can win others’ hearts. However, anything she got, anywhere she reached, had not come from her ambition. Things happened, and then she accepted. That’s what she had just done — just to accept willingly from the bottom of her heart. She was not at all an evil woman who would give anything for the fortune or fame. However, she would give uo something for a better life when her instinct defeated her intellect.

That was Carrie, a girl had her own desire, a human being just like many others in the realistic world.

There’s one sentence written in chapter VIII:” When this jangle of free-will instinct shall have been adjusted, when perfect understanding has given the former the power to replace the latter entirely, man will no longer vary.” However, how many people can go that further.

And I want to quote another sentence to wind up my essay:

“In Carrie — as in how many of our wordings do they not? — instinct and reason, desire and understanding, were at war for the mastery.”

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇5

  Book report on ‘Jane Eyre’

Jane Eyre, one of the most famous works of Charlotte Bronte’s, is an inspiring story about a miserable girl who pursue freedom, independence and true love. The story of the independent minded Jane and her love affair with Mr. Rochester opened up new dimensions for women both as writer and generations of feminists. Jane Eyre, the tough girl, really impresses me very much.

One of Jane’s impressive and admiring personalities is her self-respect. She wasn’t beautiful, and the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease. But as Jane had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of self-respect in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of self-respect impresses me so much and let me feel the power inside her body.

The other gorgeous personality I value very much is her selfless love. After leaving Thornfield with a broken heart, Jane experienced quite a lot. She refused the proposal of St. John, a handsome priest who helped her a lot when she was starving. Later, Jane inherited a wealth of fortune from her uncle which she shared with her three cousins. But when hearing that Mr. Rochester had lost his eyesight and made his body serious injured while saving his mad wife in a conflagration during which his wife died and all his property was destroyed, Jane returned to Thornfield immediately and devoted her love to Mr. Rochester. What a great decision for her to go back! If I were Jane, I couldn’t promise to get married with Mr. Rochester who is in such a terrible situation. However, Jane did with all her heart!

I like the novel very much, especially the character ‘Jane Eyre’ who is a great woman in my mind. Jane makes me realize the importance of self-respect and understand what the true love is. In this sophisticated society, we may not avoid being contaminated, but we can remind ourselves of Jane Eyre and try to be an independent and strong-minded person who treasures self-esteem and true love.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇6

The essence of the path is that it is contrary to the highway and has no definite destination. But this does not mean that it does not lead to any direction. It does not mean that all walks of life will be lost in all cases. On the contrary. The stroll I mentioned earlier is an exploration, a slow discovery, the only way to really know mountains. In other words, fictions in the form of variation are not closely connected to each other and the feature of "music fragments" is the only way to stealth the various parts of the novel and to limit the true meaning of the theme, and to respect their coherent forms and rhythms. Of course, at the end of all the paths or paths that make us all over the mountains - they make up a broader view, and some of the pictures are more direct and more intense.

In the immortality, the theme of the pastoral song appears once again in the work, but it is worth noting that the theme is quite different from the previous one. First, the political Utopia of the positive idyllic pastoral means and the image of the utopian Utopian no longer have the same complete tendencies; it continues to exist in Paul's thinking, through his memory of the 1968 "May storm", but this is a dead reference, and we can even say that it is a positive idyllic. The corpse of the pastoral song. Here, we are completely in the world after ideology, which transcends history.

We have been away from the desert pursued by Yang wick and Thomas. To "return" to self is no longer to escape to the peace and edge that can be released to self, no longer to leave the stage, away from the crowd, to avoid the harm of the crowd to us; to return to self should come to the market and display me in all eyes. Because it is a world of pastoral pastoral, in the final analysis, the modern self world is still a totalitarian world - in a sense, even more harmful than the other types of pastoral songs, because there is no foundation outside the world, and no one can do it for itself. The inevitability of "transcendence". This is a totalitarian power at the end of history.

Kundla's writing style and language expression are still worth learning. Forget the philosopher saying that life is philosophy. There is a reasonable existence. Then everyone exists, which means that its philosophy is reasonable, each person has its own way of life and way of thinking, and according to these modes of thinking to live, is the individual's own philosophy. Every character in Kundla's pen is a different philosophy. The name of each chapter metaphores a theme of thinking. "Face" means self. "Immortality" means fame and fame. "Struggle" means Agnes and Luo, "emotional man" means perceptual, "chance" is associated with "bell", "celebration" is the most. The end of the end? I can't be sure to say it is, and it would be a different idea to read later, but the same thing is that Kundla has always led the reader into thinking, no answer.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇8

The poor is the work of Lev, Tolstoy, a famous Russian writer. At that time, the Russian working people were living in extreme poverty under the dark rule of the tsar, but they were kind hearted and noble minded. The text recounts the fisherman and her wife, SANA, who care and sympathize with the neighbor Simon. After Simon's death, the story of her two orphans is adopted, reflecting the pure and simple compassion of the poor and the noble quality of helping others. Through the life of the Sanna family, the author reflects the miserable life of the poor people during that period and their perfect mind.

The fisherman's family was very poor, and their days were very tight. But when the wife of the fisherman saw his neighbour Simon's death, and the sad and moving picture of the two children who were not sensible, he did not hesitate to take them home. After a series of psychological struggles, fishermen and Sanna firmly believe that no matter how hard they are, they should bring up these two children.

In this text, the deepest part of the text is: her head is back, the cold, green face shows the death of the quiet, a pale stiff hand that wants to catch what, hanging from the straw. Next to the dead mother, two small children were asleep, with curly hair, a round face, old clothes covered with old clothes, a curly body, and two small heads of light yellow hair close together. Apparently, when the mother was dying, she put her clothes on them and hugged their little feet with their old scarves. The child's breathing is even and calm, and the sleeping is sweet. From this startling description of the situation, I realized the poverty and misery of countless working people in the Tsarist era, and I also realized the great mother's love and the two children who were worried about the death of Simon.

What impressed me most is the description of Sanna's words: it's heartbeat badly, do not understand why, but I think it should be done. When SANA saw that two poor children were not raised by their mother, they would rather starve themselves or let Simon's two orphans starve to death, which fully demonstrated the kindhearted nature of Sonna. One of the words of the fisherman moved me out: "we have to take them and how to stay with the dead! Oh, we, we can always stay up!" this sentence is so firm, although the fisherman thought about his own days, but also insisted on raising the two orphans of Simon, showing the quality of the fisherman's help and the courage to respond. Although these words are made up of several simple words, they can reflect their good nature.

Reading this story, I think we should learn the poor, not greedy, selfish, more contented, more to share with others, and if we can have a noble, kind and compassionate heart, our life is plain but also very happy. On the contrary, if selfishness and greed are the same as stupid rich people.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇9

"Great Expectations" has been considered to be one of Charles Dickens’ most mature and relatively late works. Having experienced a wealth of human life, Dickens got a profound understanding of human-being, the surrounding environment and his life experiences while all his mature thinking and understanding were summarized into the book "Great Expectations".

The original meaning of the work’s title in fact is a heritage, but when it was translated into Chinese it gave me an impression that the title shows the hero of the story had Great Expectations. However, reading over the book I realized that this "Great Expectations" takes an ironic band——it should be said that the theme of this work not only told the story of orphan Pip who wanted to be the ideal first-class disillusionment. If one does think so, he holds a wrong understanding of the great significance why Dickens creative the work.

The hero Pip lived with his sister’s family. Though their life was hard, Pip didn’t wish to be a first-class person his vision was to be a blacksmith like his brother-in-law, his sister’s husband. The reason why he changed his mind and was eager to be a first-class person later was the changing of environment——he met Miss Harvisham, Estella and some other complex people. As we know one of Dickens's philosophy thoughts is environment takes a deep impact to humans’ ideological and the story expresses his view that different environment creates different people.

In short, I think the work was not arbitrarily written, but was based on the 10 works before aggregating Dickens’ thoughts. What is more, Dickens had put his outlook on life, his views of philosophy and ethics into the great creation.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇10

Recently,I have just finished reading a famous novel written by Margaret mitchellGone with the Wind, which is one of the most popular works among American novels. It took the auther about 10 years to finish this great novel, the only novel in her life.

The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O"Hara,a 16-year-old girl, who was living in Tala manor in Georgia, was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes. However, after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didn’t really love---- Charles Hamilton. Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.Having e back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.Later, her second husband died in the fight, she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married him.Although Rhett had similar characteristic attracting her,Scarlett still loved Ashley.Later, their only daughter died accidently,Rhett left Scarlett sorrowly. And then Scarlett realized that Rhett was the only one who could fall in love with her.

The novel takes the US Civil War as the background. It takes Scarlett’s individual activity as the thread. The book show us a tragic love story .A couple who could have a perfect future, but finnally go in opposite direction. As a matter of fact, their charactristics have decided their tragic result inevitably. We feel sorry about the end because we are looking forward to a perfect end, just like Scarlett and Rhett. In fact, ferfect is always a excessive damand.

I affirm Rhett. He brings excitement to Scarlett’s life and encourages her impulse to change and succeed.Like Scarlett,he goes after what he wants and refuses to take ‘no’ for an answer. He is humorous, intelligent and cynical with a hint of treason. He is really a respectable man.I think he finnally left because of love .Otherwise,he couldn’t have gone without hesitation.

Ashley Wilkes is the foil to Rhett’s dark, realistic opportunism. If there was no Civil War,he is surely a nobility of grace and charm. But history cannot be changed. He bocame a victim of the war.His era was gone with the defeat of the war.At the same time,we cannot deny the fact that he had a chear understanding about reality, which just contribute to his tragedy.

In this book, what I appreciate most is not Melanie’skindness or Rheet’s dedication and patience, but Scarlett’s courage to throw her long-standing morality and tradition whe faced with diffiiculties. At the beginning of the war,she didn’t care about this.In her world are endless dinner parties and dance parties. In her body are her father’s brave Irish blood and her mother’s noble French pure blood. She had a vast farm as her home. She had hundreds of slaves. This is Scarlett.,a member of noblity, proud and different. However, the war changed everything. Her mother died of illness. Her father bee silent and the farm was nearly deserted.Even food became a big problem. All the pressure was put on Scarlett’s shoulder. She must feed a family of 9 people in it.What a big difference of level. If all this happened to someone else,he or she may choose to escape. On the contrary,Scarlett choose to face the change of life bravely. How can we not admire her courage of to change herself.Life is like a mountain. The road can’t be pletely smooth. When we fall down from the peak,we may get hert ,we may get disappointed,we may feel despair. But if you want to survive, you must stand up to face it.

It is obvious that 《Gone with the wind》 is really a good book, even if a long time has passed away,it is still suitable for today’s society. It is of great importance to change ourselves, change our value even our thoughts when our life chages.

On the other hand,I think there is no real perfect in the world.Everybody has his shortings. It is necessary for us to learn to forgive others’ faults. If we keep good-tempered,Ibelieve there will be more edy and less tragedy.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇11

‘WE ARE EQUAL!’ When these three words came out of the plain-looking girl’s mouth, the whole world was shocked.

We have good reason to be shocked——deprived of family happiness from an early age, with neither beauty nor wealth to speak of, Jane Eyre seems to be never destined to bee the heroine shining in the spotlight we often read about in romances——but is there really such a thing called destiny? At least Jane doesn’t think so. She is not pretty; she is not rich; she is a mere ordinary governess, so what? As an individual human existence, she has dignity as well as anyone else, so she deserves the chance to love and to be loved as well as anyone else! Despite her short, delicate body, her soul is not the least weaker than others’——even greater than most of them. The moment she said the three powerful words to Mr. Rochester proudly and steadily, her pale face must have been sparkling with sacredness, which would have made her the most beautiful woman ever, because the beauty of independence is eternal. With this spirit of independence she not only gained herself love, respect and happiness but also proved to the world that nobody is second class——unless you believe yourself to be.

Hundreds of thousands of ordinary girls that usually get neglected in life——me included——love and admire Jane deeply because she inspires and encourages us to strive for our life goals against all odds bravely. She is a role model, an idol in our hearts but at the same time a friend, a big sister next door who’s not at all cold and distant, always ready and willing to stand by our side whenever we are in trouble. Every time when I feel inferior, puzzled and lose faith in myself and the strength to carry on the life path already chosen, Jane, my dear friend’s determined face and forceful words on that serene summer night would emerge inside my mind, which never failed to relight my fire of passion. Oh, how I long to be like her.

But it’s not that I totally believe in her life story, by which I mean I don’t think the story of hers can happen to anybody. To me, it’s somewhat like a fairy tale that begins with ‘long long ago’ and ends with ‘ever after’, in which the prince and princess, though having suffered much in the process of getting together, would always end up in a harmonious marriage and enjoy all the best life has to offer. Being an obscure girl herself, the author Charlotte Bronte was so generous as to have provided our dear Jane a Mr. Rochester who loves her just the way she is, appreciates her unique character and a kindhearted family (later proved to be her relatives) that took her in when she was helpless and offered her a job to support herself. In reality, not every Jane Eyre can meet the proper people at the right time, just as not every ugly duckling can turn into a graceful swan——it may depend on a matter of luck. If you are too obsessed with fairy tales, you are very likely to feel disappointed and deceived by the not-so-perfect everyday life. But what are fairy tales for? We love to read them and we tend to believe in them even though we know they are not real. Sometimes we do need a little romantic daydream as seasonings in the routine of life, and we also need an ideal to believe in, a creed to live by, and a northern star to show us directions on the long journey.

That’s maybe what Jane Eyre is for——it gives numerous mon girls a possibility to look forward to, a life to reach for, and above all, a positive attitude to face all odds to encounter. Perhaps we can’t all have her luck, but we can have her independence, confidence, persistence, the courage of standing up to fight for ourselves against those seemingly taller than us, and the faith that we can finally win because WE ARE EQUAL.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇12

With so many famous masterpieces on the booklist, it is really a pretty hard job to choose one to read first. After much hesitation and deeply thought, I finally decided to borrow Great Expectations from the small library.

Great Expectations is about love, family, and rejection as Pip and Miss Havisham have both been rejected in certain ways. Pip is a boy around 13 years old, easy to fright, and goes through his life suffering lots of sadness. He is in love with a girl named Estella and wants her to find his love, but for him being shy and not showing himself to her, it makes it very hard for him.

Great Expectations was the penultimate novel completed by the most popular novelist of Victorian England, Charles Dickens. Born in Kent, England, in 1812 to a family of modest means but great pretensions, Dickens’s early life was marked by both humiliation and ambition. Dickens never forgot the period of financial crisis during his childhood, when following his father’s bankruptcy, he was taken out of school and forced to work in a shoepolish warehouse.

Pip meets an escaped convict, Magwitch, and gives him food, in an encounter that is to haunt both their lives.

When Pip receives riches from a mysterious benefactor he snobbishly abandons his friends for London society and his“great expectations”。

I set up my mind to select it for the reason that I have read a brief introduction of this masterpiece in my high school English textbook before. In addition, a Tale of Two Cities which is also written by Charles Dickens, the outstanding and special English writer, left me a wonderful and deep impression, when I finished reading the marvelous story.

Of course, Great Expectations didn’t let me down, either. What’s more, the whole structure of the novel is well and elaborately designed. The plot is extremely attractive and full of unexpected twists. Quite a few characters have a distinguishable personality. Moreover, those words and sentences are so beautiful and meaningful that I even took them down carefully in my notebook. By reading them no less than three times, I have learned not only some new phrases and sentences, but also a philosophy of life.

Among the characters, which impressed me most are not Pip and Estella who should be regarded as the leading roles, but Joe and Magwitch. I feel awfully sorry that I was not brave enough to read the original edition that is as thick as a brick. Otherwise, I may appreciate Joe and Magwitch more. Yes, they are not the main characters in the novel. However, what they said and what they did deeply touched me. It’s interesting, isn’t it? They are quite the opposite guys. One is a totally good man without the least bit of wickedness while the other is a prisoner who is believed to have committed every evil.

I believe that everyone who reads the book is to like Joe. When he talked about his heavy drinking father who hit him a lot, he said he had a lot of love. Faced with his rude wife, he would rather seem a bit weak or foolish than stand up to her and fight for himself. Knowing peacockish Pip was ashamed of his uneducated manners, he left sadly and quietly. The world rushes on over the strings of the lingering heart making the music of sadness. But when he was informed of Pip’s illness, he immediately came to take good care of Pip. He is always contributing everything and requiring nothing. Such a man is Joe, kind, tolerant and selfless. "Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage, nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice," says a wise author.

However, why do I appreciate Magwitch, the bad guy? You may wonder. Indeed, Magwitch did a lot of evil things when he was young. But how can you be unmoved when you get to know that the old man kept himself going just by thinking of the boy who once did him a small favor? He lost his only daughter and Pip had no parents, so he considered himself as the boy’s second father, making up his mind to help his dear boy became a gentleman. He did every kind of job and led a hard life in Australia. At last he made a big fortune and promised himself that all the money would go to Pip. He could have led a better life in Australia ,but Ihe chose to go back to London .with the simple intention of seeing Pip, he went back at the risk of being hanged! “whatever the fault he had from the start, remember, reader, he had a good heart.” Joe used these words to describe his father. But I think these words can better describe Magwitch. He lived with the fear of death all his life. Who shuts love out, in turn shall be shut out from love. However, thankfully, because Pip finally realized his good heart, his ending was peaceful.

Dickens has Pip as the writer and first person narrator of this account of his life's experiences, and the entire story is understood to have been written as a retrospective, rather than as a present tense narrative or a diary or journal. Still, though Pip "knows" how all the events in the story will turn out, he uses only very subtle foreshadowing so that we learn of events only when the Pip in the story does. Pip does, however, use the perspective of the bitter lessons he's learned to comment acidly on various actions and attitudes in his earlier life.

I know how to fully understand this novel, twice is far from enough. Pip, Estella, Miss Havisham, Biddy even Mr Wemmick, every single character has a story that is well worth my attention. I love this novel so much that I am determined to read the original edition one day. Believe me. But before that day comes, I will see the movie Great Expectations first.

Search for knowledge, read more, sit on your front porch and admire the view without paying attention to your needs.

Like a needle quickly ed into the vein, Wu Xuan’s novella Hair Salon draws blood right from the beginning. Despite its terse sentences, unsentimental tone, and smooth language, it explores an uncomfortable scenario with dualities. As readers, we are told by the narrator that his younger sister will be opening up a hair salon in the same city where he teaches history in a middle school. However, hair salon is a misnomer because it doesn’t offer haircuts at all. Situated in a forgotten alley behind the railway station, the salon provides two main services of shampooing and massage, with a largely male clientele.

Instead of elaborating on the relationship between the siblings, the story traces the path Sister Fang Yuan take from a country girl to an owner of the hair salon / massage parlour in the city and the reactions of people along the way, including her brother the narrator, his wife, her parents, relatives and fellow villagers. However, given the scope of the issues involved, the novella doesn’t expand on many threads it generates but simply puts the characters into prototypes, not withstanding a shocking twist in the end. Whether it is the narrator, Fang Yuan and her husband Li Peilin, each person represents many more out there. Even though things happen to them, they are not really always in control but merely being dragged along by a bigger force. More importantly, once they enter the city, everyone is just a part of the locomotives that carry China forward; and there is no way back.

Although there are moments when I wish our characters could be more multi-dimensional, what I like about Wu Xuan is his ability to elevate the tragic to a comical level, so that the readers may ponder between tears and laughter. For example, an anecdote in the novella concerns one of narrator’s fellow villagers, who weeps for her daughter killed by infanticide fifteen years earlier, because had she been alive, she would have being able to improve her family’s lot by working at a massage parlour.

Such is the humour, wit and the acerbic tone Wu Xuan employs in his story telling and one cannot help but sense a wounded pleasure at the end. His work demonstrates that fiction is still the best way to tell the truth.

Recently, I have reading the book "Jane Eyre”。 Although I forgot some details in the book, Jane gave me deeply impression, I admire her very much. After that the teacher also told us to put the play in to a movie, and then we all can touch each hero’s soul in the book. The play it mainly tell us how Jane is growing up when suffering from great difficulties and painless. whats more, it is impressed me that she still love her master even if he is blind at last due to rescue his mad wife.

And I like the Classic lines what Jane said to Mr. Rochester :"Do you think I can stay to become nothing to you? Do you think I am an automaton?--a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!--I have as much soul as you,--and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.

I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh;--it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at Gods feet, equal,--as we are!" its so beautiful, Jane is a girl who will never lose confidence in life and always sensible when handling with some motional problems. Jane was huge in my heart. She can control her life and fate. She knew how to continue her life and she got it!

Maybe after what she told me I have known that what love is and how to love and to be loved! The book is a book worth of reading, so all in all let’s enjoy it!

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇15

Jane Eyre — A Beautiful Soul Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl.

But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodness on one side and must check the badness on the other side.

We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.

We also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence…

When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.

Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governess had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.

In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s GREat virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇16

‘WE ARE EQUAL!’ When these three words came out of the plain-looking girl’s mouth, the whole world was shocked.

We have good reason to be shocked——deprived of family happiness from an early age, with neither beauty nor wealth to speak of, Jane Eyre seems to be never destined to become the heroine shining in the spotlight we often read about in romances——but is there really such a thing called destiny?

That’s maybe what Jane Eyre is for——it gives numerous common girls a possibility to look forward to, a life to reach for, and above all, a positive attitude to face all odds to encounter. Perhaps we can’t all have her luck, but we can have her independence, confidence, persistence, the courage of standing up to fight for ourselves against those seemingly taller than us, and the faith that we can finally win because WE ARE EQUAL.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇17

Recently, I have read the famous novel “Gone with The Wind” by Margaret Mitchell. Each character in this book gave me a great impression.

At beginning of the book, I think Scarlet was a beautiful, lucky woman. So many young men were in love with her and they always stayed around her. But in fact ,Scarlet was not the lucky woman I thought . She was fell in love with Ashley Wilkes, but the man was not like the other boys around her. when then news came that Ashley would be married with Melanie ,she felt surprised and even couldn’t accept the fact. With the psychology of revenging Ashley, Scarlett married to Melanie’s brother before the day of Ashley’wedding.

Soon after the war broke out , many young man died ,including Scarlett’s husband. Scarlett became a widow. She couldn’t stand the boring life, so when Melanie invited her to the home of Charles’s aunt. Without more consideration ,Scarlett left for Atlanta.

One time hospital hold a party to collect contributions. Then at the party ,she met Rhett buther, the man who loves her at first sight. Although Scarlett didn’t show any good feeling to him, Rhett buther always companied her and made her happy. For several reasons, she married again, but Rhett still loved her. When her second husband died, he asked Scarlett married him. Because he believed that he understoodher and he can bring her happy. After several month ,they got married. Their life became better and happier. Later they had a litte daughter, Bonnie. Rhett loved his lovely daughter just like the way he loved Scarlett. But Scarlett still loved Ashley. Unfortunitily, Bonnie died when she rided the horse. Rhett was hurt so badly that he couldn’t stand living with Scarlett, and he decided to leave. At this time she realised that the man she really loved was Rhett, not Ashley. She tried hard to persuard Rhett not to leave her. He left .I think it was a pity, but it doomed. Although Rhett love her so much ,he could do everything to make her happy, but she never opened her heart to him and tried to understand him.

Although Scarlett’s love was end up with tragedy. But from her attitude for life,we could know that she was a strong woman.she never gave up facing endless difficulties.when the war was terrible, everything was in confusion ,Scarlett had to take Melanie left back to home, the Tara Plantation. Hopefully she wanted her parent’s help. But to her surprise, her mum had died and her father was out of normal. Situation have became more difficult. While Melanie was going to give birth to a baby. Scarlet made her mind on taking on the task. In order to keep living ,Scarlett even went to work on farm ,she planted cotton. Melanie was in poor health, but she still went to help Scarlett to do farm work. She believed Scalett and gave her unselfish love. With Menlanie’s love,Scarlett supported her home, but at this time ,she still didn’t realize how important Melanie for her. In order to solve the problem of the Tara plantation, she married to Frank. In order to make a living she also did business which was unbelievable for women in this time. She struggled with countless difficulties, but she never gave up. She still believed “Tomorrow is a new day”。

Another girl that I loved in this book is Melanie, she was very kind and gentle. She never doubted the relationship between Scarlett and Ashley, she always standed in the side of Scarlett. Although Scarlett hated her and even wanted her to die. She still believed Scalett and treated Scarlett as her best friend. Melanie loved her husband ,when her husband was fighting in the war, she always waited for him. She didn’t have the strength to give birth, but she still wanted to have a baby for Ashley, finally, she died.

These three main characters in the book are all very obvious, but different. They gave me a impression. Scarlett was a plain girl, but what she did was not plain. She didn’t stay silent during the war, she changed her own life by strugling. In fact, many people lost what they have like Scarlett, but they all gave up to strive for the happiness that essentially belonged to them. Scarlett have the braveness to change the situation. But the pity was that she didn’t recognize the real love belong her in time. If she could got deep understanding of Ashley, she may not love him. If she could open her heart to Rhett and understand him, she may realized her love to Rhett. Sometimes I couldn’t help thinking that why the author can write this moved story. Maybe she have the similar experiences.

On the whole, this is a wonderful book, I feel very grateful that I can read it. I could get many benefits from it.

Shakspere (wrong spelling) created Hamlet--a man with wisdom and courage .In order to revenge on his uncle for killing his father he pretented (spelling mistake) to be mad and suffered a series of misery. On the contrary we can also say that Hamlet is rude and selfish for he did not think twice before his revenge .

if (Capitalize "If" since it is the beginning word of the sentence.) a country has no king how can a country keep alive (You need a question mark here since it is a question.) So every thing has two sides the bright side and adumbral side.

Every time we make a decision we have to think twice. Comment:Be careful with your spelling grammar and punctuation. Too many uncessary mistakes. It is good that you looked at both the dark and bright sides of Hamlet. Thats quite objective and convincing.

  英語(yǔ)讀后感 篇20

During this term, I have read a novel The Red and the Black. The novel was written by the French writer Stendhal in the 19th century. MarieHenri Beyle, better known by his pen name Stendhal, was one of the critical realism French writers in the 19th century . The military and theatrical worlds of the First French Empire were a revelation to Beyle. Known for his acute analysis of his characters" psychology and reflection of society, he is considered one of the earliest and foremost practitioners of realism in his two novels Le Rouge et le Noir (The Red and the Black, 1830) and La Chartreuse de Parme (The Charterhouse of Parma, 1839)。 Stendhal laid down for himself in a diary entry of May 1804:regard everything I’ve read to date about man as a prediction; believe only what I have seen for myself. Joy, happiness, fame, all is upon it. Futurity call it realism creation method. In France, Stendhal was the first litterateur to reveal corruption of the bourgeoisie through literature.

The novel marks the beginning of realism. André Gide said that The Red and the Black was a novel ahead of its time, that it was a novel for readers in the twentieth century. In Stendhal’s time, prose novels included dialogue and omniscient narrator descriptions; his great contribution to literary technique was describing the psychologies (feelings, thoughts, inner monologues) of the characters, resultantly he is considered the creator of the psychological novel.

The paper"s opening sentence:If your characters do not talk about politics, they are not the French in 1830. is the famous sentence in The Red and The Black. The material of The Red and The Black is based on a realistic event that a tutor killed her hostess in 1827. When Stendhal read the story in the newspaper, he adapted it and wrote the long bildungsroman novel The Red and The Black. The work, previously titled Julien, then, changed into The Red and The Black. The Red symbolizes many things, the uniform of the Napoleon era, Mrs. Renal’s blood, revolution and contribution by the common people. The Black also stands for robes of priests, Martel’s mourning apparel and the plot of church. The subtitle, A Chronicle of the 19th Century, definitely states the time background. Thus it can be seen, Stendhal consciously wrote this political tint novel about society of Bourbon Restoration. The Red and The Black is the first critical realism novel in Europe.

The Red and the Black includes two volumes. It mainly tells the story of Julien Sorel’s life in a monarchic society of fixed social class. The clue of this book is about Julien Sorel’s life experience. From the venal town to the capital Paris, the ghastly seminary to the royalist, love and religious activities to the secret political conferences, The Red and the Black describes a picture of the society under control of Charles X of France.

Book I Julien Sorel is an ambitious son of a carpenter in the Verrières village, in Franche-Comté, France, who would rather read and daydream about the glory days of Napoleon"s long-disbanded army. In the event, Julien Sorel becomes an acolyte. Later, the local Catholic prelate secures him a post as the tutor for the children of Monsieur de Rênal, the mayor of Verrières. He falls in love with Monsieur de Rênal’s wife; it ends badly when exposed to the village, by her chambermaid, Elisa. Then, Julien goes to a seminary in Besan?on, which he finds intellectually stifling and pervaded with social cliques. Disgusted by the Church’s political machinations, Julien recommends himself as private secretary to the diplomat Marquis de la Mole, a Roman Catholic legitimist.

Book II chronicles the time leading to the July Revolution of 1830, and Julien Sorel’s Parisian life, as an employee of the de la Mole family. Despite moving among high society, the family and their friends, condescend to Julien for being an uncouth plebeian his intellectual talents notwithstanding. In his boundlessly ambitious rise in the world, Julien perceives the materialism and hypocrisy important to the elite of Parisian society, and that the counter-revolutionary temper of the time renders it impossible for well-born men of superior intellect and esthetic sensibility to progressively participate in the public affairs of the nation with any success. Meanwhile, in the preceding months, the Marquis’s bored daughter, Mathilde de la Mole, had become emotionally torn, between her romantic attraction to Julien, for his admirable personal and intellectual qualities, and her social repugnance at becoming sexually intimate with a lower-class man. At first, he finds her unattractive, but his interest is piqued, by her attentions and the admiration she inspires in others; twice, she seduces and rejects him, leaving him in a miasma of despair, self-doubt, and happiness. Only during his secret mission does he gain the key to winning her affections. Consequently, Mathilde sincerely falls in love with Julien, eventually revealing to him that she carries his child; yet, whilst he was on diplomatic mission in England, she became officially engaged to Monsieur de Croisenois, an amiable, rich young man, heir to a duchy.

Although The Red and The Black was written in the 19th century, the novel is still of reflective value to our real world. In the modern society, we still can find out many Juliens。 They are young and talented, but low birth. At first, they despise the unfair treatment in the society. They hate corruption of officialdom. They disdain the person who has special power and privileges. However, they always long for joining in the officialdom. The iron hand of cruel necessity broke those Juliens’ wills. Once into the officialdom, they gradually lose themselves. Finally, they even enjoy in it and try to defend themselves.

In fact, they must end of failure like Julien, I think, against their wills, following the wrong mind and taking advantage of the empressement of others. Learning of Julien’s romantic liaison with Mathilde, the Marquis de la Mole is angered, but relents before her determination, and his affection for him, and bestows upon Julien an income-producing property attached to an aristocratic title, and a military commission in the army. Although ready to bless their marriage, he changes his mind upon receiving the reply to a character-reference-letter he wrote to the abbé Chénal, Julien’s previous employer in the village of Verrières; however, the reply letter, written by Madame de Rênal at the urging of her confessor priest warns the Marquis that Julien Sorel is a social-climbing cad who preys upon emotionally vulnerable women. On learning the Marquis’s disapproval of the marriage, Julien Sorel travels to his home village of Verrières and shoots Madame de Rênal during Mass in the village church; she survives. Despite the efforts of Mathilde, Madame de Rênal, and the priests devoted to him since his early life, Julien Sorel is determined to die because the materialist society of Bourbon Restoration France will not accommodate a low-born man of superior intellect and aesthetic sensibility possessing neither money nor social connections.

Reading between the lines, we can find that Julien is a b-willed and cunning young man who is determined to make his way to the upper society. Julien’s mistrustfulness and his touchy pride were through his life. He reached such heights of perfection in this kind of eloquence, which has replaced the swiftness of action found under the Empire. Julien forgot his dreary role as a rebellious plebeian. When he was in the prison, he awakened and said: The whole world and the society are hypocritical! He yelled out: I love truth, but where is truth? Everyone is hypocritical and trickish, including the great people! He refused to appeal. Later, he was sent to the block and ended his life.

Julien is a tragical character in this novel. He represents the young people of Petty Bourgeoisie in the Bourbon Restoration. They are young and talented, but low birth. Finally, they end of death. As the novel shown, the society under control of Charles X of France was dark. There was no middle way for them. The connection between people was only money, even between father and son. When Julien was in the prison, his father visited him. At the beginning, his father scolded him. He thought that Julien was a shame of his family. While father heard of the money Julien had, father changed his attitude at once. You had money, people respected you; without money, people looked down upon you. In that society, without money, you were nothing! Julien was the victim of cash nexus. I cannot help saying: It is an eat-man world! If Julien lives in the modern society, without repress and exploitation of class, I believe, he must be appreciated by others and become a successful person.

Julien Sorel is practical, greedy, and cruel. In order to realize his aim and get rid of poverty, Julien took advantage of Mathilde by hook or by crook. He believed that the end justifies the means. It is true that every one should try his best to achieve what he is pursuing. But we should do it in a proper and moral way. And whatever we do, we shouldn"t forget that love and honesty should remain the most cherishable elements in our life.

Today we are living in a harmonious society; we should keep our purity and humanity. Fame and fortune are important, but they are not everything. Love and honesty are of more importance for a peaceful life. We should trust each other, help each other, and take care of each other.

Although Julien ended of death, we still have many things to learn from him. He was low birth, but he always encouraged himself that: I will be great! He never gave up. When we encounter some problems, we should try to solve them instead of giving up. Plus, before Julien started a thing, he always had made a plan. Everything must be carefully planned before we act, then twice as much can be accomplished with half the effort.

In a whole, success and opportunity are only given to those people who are well-prepared. I am ready at all times. Are you ready?

First of all, i want make it clear that i can not claim understanding this holy book in just a few weeks, and i would not dare comment on this sacred book, in addition, i don"t think i can give you a full picture of the holy bible in just few words.i can not preach anything here. what i want to do here is to expremy understanding by sharing two events described in this book.

The fist story i want to share is abandoned tower of babel.according to the bibel, people use the same language to communicate with each other in ancient times.with the soaring vanity, they decided to build a heaven-reaching tower to show off their achievement, god knows, he change the human language into different kinds and make it difficult for people to communicate with each other, hence the failure of building tower of babel.this story tells people, never do things in selfishness, but make a life out of enternal glory.

The other story, before jesus christ was crucified,he said, father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. with great love, he shouldered all the sins of people. what can we learn from this story?we live in this world thanks to the love of god, for this reanson, we should make our lives glorious to honor our god.

Finally,i want to sum up by saying that only if we put our lives in the eternal love of god,can we live a perfect life, and what you appealed is what god expected!

Holy Bible impressions of after-reading Holy Bible is Christianity"s soul. Must understand the Western civilization. Can not but read Holy Bible. Hungry must eat thing this not is also the person most primitive desire? Between the desire and the desire also has the difference? Why is it the crime?!

God does not endure the crime which sees the people to massacre mutually, therefore decision reconstruction world of human beings, only then Noa is rescued, the humanity massacres the worst result also nothing but is mutually the complete deconstruction, God is only does not endure to put in nearly all people in the flood rainstorm, this is He Zhong does not endure?! The people make the exceedingly high Babylon tower, wants to go to have a look at the God Jehovah"s homeland, God to worry that the people crime, then lets the people language not paagain, therefore no longer the unity cannot continue to make the tower again, the human wants to visit God"s family is the crime, God steals peeps person"s privacy is looks after?! The belief is one spiritual reposing, believes one spiritual strength. The human, cannot not believe! The recollection believes in the lord these days, I experience to the main leadership, feels deeply main to my blessing. Before advocating Jesus to become my foot"s lamp, on road"s light.

I have read a book the other day called The Monkey’s Paw which is written by W.W.Jacobs.The story began on a cold and dark night.Old Mr White got a magic monkey paw from his friend Morris.Morris who told him that the monkey paw could give three wishes to three people, but it couldn’t bring them happiness. However,Old Mr White still used the paw to make wishes without listening to Morris’s discourage. Finally, he got thirty thousand pounds but his son died.At the end of the story,Mrs White almost became crazy. The whole family fell into sadness and fear.

This story is gripping and also a little scary. It is tragic and sobering. The plot is both unexpected and reasonable.Although Old Mr White’s friend had warned him,but he didn’t listen. At last it became a tragedy. What caused all this? It’s obvious that the Mr White’s greed. He wanted to get the money with no pay,but that is impossible in this world.I’m afraid he’ll live out the rest of his life in regret. The three men who used the monkey’s paw all paid an irreparable price for their greed.

This short novel tells us a lesson that we can’t daydream.Waiting for money and success comes with no pay is stupid and not realistic. We should work and study harder.Chase the treasure on your own without regret or sadness.
