SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Structural design and construction of nuclear facilities at DOE Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Analysis and design of special equipment and facilities for recovery of spent nuclear fuel elements at DOE Hanford Site.
Structural design of Pit 9 recovery building for DOE Idaho National Engineering & Environmental Laboratory.
Structural/seismic design of diesel generator building for upgrade of process canyons at DOE Savannah River Site.
Experienced and knowledgeable of code requirements and standards for steel, concrete and masonry structures.
OBJECTIVE:
Practice as a professional engineer with an organization that offers challenging projects to work on, provides a climate of fairness for employees and pays a fair wage.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
For each of the following assignments I served as the licensed Engineer of Record.
Neutron Tube Target Loading Project, Los Alamos National Laboratory, 1995-1997
Designed and supervised design and drafting for new tritium facility including reinforced masonry shear wall building, modification and upgrade of an existing reinforced concrete building and foundation for a new steel building.
Conducted seismic lateral load analysis for entire facility.
Wrote design criteria and prepared construction specifications and drawings.
Developed structural test and inspection plans and integrated structural design with electrical, mechanical and architectural disciplines.
Reviewed and approved vendor submittals, managed construction documents, supported change control process and prepared as-built project records.
K-Basin Spent Nuclear Fuel Project, Hanford Site, 1997-1998
Conducted structural analysis and design for the Cold Vacuum Drying System and the Hot Conditioning Facility.
Conducted seismic analysis of the 25 ton Hot Conditioning System process steel enclosure.
Pit 9 Remediation Project, Idaho National Engineering & Environmental Laboratory Site, 1996-1997
Designed a large retrofit penetration in an existing concrete partition wall in the facility.
Performed seismic dynamic analysis to demonstrate concept feasibility. Prepared detailed engineering sketches for input to drafting construction drawings.
Conducted structural analysis and design of steel frame and concrete deck mezzanine floor for the shredder/separator cell.
Designed and supervised drafting of main steel construction drawings for the Pit 9 retrieval building. This unique structure spans Pit 9 and moves along skid beams on Hillman rollers. An open bottom provides access for waste retrieval equipment in the building.
Canyons Upgrade Project, Savannah River Site, 1997-1998
Developed structural design criteria, building structural concept and supervised static/seismic analysis, design and drafting for construction drawings for the reinforced concrete shear wall building housing the diesel/electric generator power system.
Typical Project Support Experience at Los Alamos National Laboratory, 1998-2005
Conducted seismic analysis of the nitric acid tank farm expansion for Building PF-4 in
TA-55. Designed structure for tanks and piping support and anchorage.
Performed evaluation of Building TA-53-0006 (3-story reinforced masonry office building) and Building TA-21-1001 (unreinforced masonry one-story records storage warehouse) to requirements of FEMA-178. Recommended seismic upgrades for both structures and designed roof support repair for the records storage warehouse.
Conducted conceptual and detailed design of a Weapons Engineering Tritium Facility upgrade for rack storage of tritium canisters in Building TA-16-205A, including fabrication drawings and specification, and seismic analysis of the combined storage racks and existing on-grade reinforced concrete floor slab.
Designed a high-seismic performance storage vault for the Beryllium Technology Facility including seismic analysis, drilled pier foundation, reinforced masonry shear walls and light concrete filled steel deck roof.
