Because of television, people begin to understand different cultures and current affairs. They know about the things they never knew before, they create their own opinions and form their sense of worth. The TV opens a brand-new door for them to explore the things they want to know. Many people may go traveling due to watch the beautiful scenes in TV.
On the other hand, some people may find them addicted to television, especially the young people. They spend most of their free time watching TV programs instead of playing outside with their peers. In the first place, television is not only a convenient source of entertainment, but also a comparatively cheap one.for a family of four, for eample, it is more convenient as well as cheaper to sit comfortably at home, with almost unlimited entertainment available, than to go out in search of amusement elsewhere. they do not have to pay for epensive seats at the theatre, the cinema, or the opera, only to discover, perhaps, that the show is disappointing.all they have to do is press a button, and they can see plays, films, operas, and shows of every kind, not to mention political discussions and the latest ecitlng football match. some people, however, mainrain that this is precisely where the danger lies. the television viewer takes no initiative. he makes no choice and eercises no judgment. he is completely passive and has everything presented to him without any effort on his part.
Television, it is often said, keeps one informed about current events, allows one to follow the latest developments in science and politics, and offers an endless series of programs which are both instructive and entertaining. the most distant countries and the strangest customs are brought right into one＇s sitting-room. it could be argued that the radio performs this service just as well; but on television everything is much more living, much more real. yet here again there is a danger. we get so used to looking at it, so dependent on its flickering ＇pictures, that it begins to dominate our lives.
There are many other arguments for and against television. the poor quality of its programs is often criticized. but it is undoubtedly a great comfort to many lonely elderly people.and does it corrupt or instruct our children? i think we must realize that television in itself is neither good nor bad. it is the uses to which it is put that determine its value to society.

First and foremost, the leading factor that hits me is that television provides a brilliant source of information. Not only can it bring a great deal of information in a comparably short time, but it may also enable us to acquire new knowledge visually and acoustically, taking advantage over other media.
Apart from that, what is more important, watching TV is a better way of recreation and entertainment. While watching TV, people invariably gain a sense of relaxation. According to a recent survey conducted by National University of Taiwan, 60% of the participants argued to relax themselves by watching TV series or animations and this did relieve their pressure effectively. After mentioning this example, conclusion easily comes to light that watching TV is a great approach to releasing pressure.
Admittedly, television does have its drawbacks such as its characteristic of alluring students into watching TV series and out of finishing their homework, making students addicted to it. Notwithstanding, when compared with its advantages, these demerits fall into secondary. What is more, for those people with self-abnegation, those disadvantages can’ t be a problem.
From what has been discussed above, we may safely draw the conclusion that the positive effect TV exerts far outweighs its rious impact; it is suitable to consider television as one of the most preeminent inventions in history. I advocate that everyone should be encouraged to get access to it and make full use of its potential, making our vision wider.
