目前筆者所在地區(qū)采用的是新編北師大版高中英語(yǔ)教材。這套教材一大優(yōu)點(diǎn)在于其語(yǔ)言材料的組織都是圍繞某個(gè)主題展開(kāi)的。每單元有一個(gè)主題,下面每一課都有自己的話題,對(duì)于這些話題學(xué)生都較感興趣,有話可說(shuō)。這樣的教材編排特點(diǎn)適合開(kāi)展主題寫作活動(dòng)。每個(gè)單元的前三課或四課是單元話題下的基本詞匯、短語(yǔ)、句型和語(yǔ)法項(xiàng)目的學(xué)習(xí),Communication Workshop是對(duì)單元知識(shí)的擴(kuò)展和綜合運(yùn)用,通常有基于單元話題的寫作指導(dǎo)及任務(wù)。學(xué)生獲得的單元基礎(chǔ)語(yǔ)言知識(shí)以及他們運(yùn)用語(yǔ)言知識(shí)的準(zhǔn)確和熟練程度,完全可以通過(guò)話題寫作活動(dòng)來(lái)檢驗(yàn)和強(qiáng)化,而且主題寫作活動(dòng)可以體現(xiàn)語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)的價(jià)值和意義。
(二) 主題寫作教學(xué)實(shí)例
下面結(jié)合新編北師大版高中英語(yǔ)教材第7模塊,第21單元的主題寫作教學(xué)案例進(jìn)行探析。
本單元的話題是人類生物學(xué),通過(guò)單元學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)生應(yīng)能夠流利地運(yùn)用單元目標(biāo)詞匯和基本句型來(lái)討論有關(guān)人類科學(xué)的相關(guān)話題。食物、健康和醫(yī)學(xué)是人類生存和發(fā)展中永恒的話題。學(xué)生對(duì)人類科學(xué)有較為濃厚的興趣,所以此單元話題下的寫作圍繞人類發(fā)展展開(kāi),貼近學(xué)生的生活,易于激發(fā)學(xué)生的寫作興趣。學(xué)生對(duì)單元主題詞匯和基礎(chǔ)語(yǔ)句已經(jīng)有了一定的掌握和積累,能夠用單元基礎(chǔ)語(yǔ)言材料組織語(yǔ)句,表達(dá)自己的想法。教師在指導(dǎo)學(xué)生進(jìn)行主題寫作時(shí),完全可以依托單元話題語(yǔ)料。
克隆人是在人類生物學(xué)發(fā)展到今天無(wú)法回避的話題,但具有極大爭(zhēng)議性,這種本身有爭(zhēng)議的話題正適合本單元Communication Workshop的寫作要求Learn to write a discursive essay,此文體要求學(xué)生第一段介紹話題,第二三段分述反面觀點(diǎn)及正面觀點(diǎn),最后一段給出個(gè)人觀點(diǎn)。但由于克隆人在現(xiàn)實(shí)世界中還沒(méi)有出現(xiàn),同時(shí)又遠(yuǎn)離學(xué)生生活,因此為了給學(xué)生帶來(lái)更直觀的感受,教師最好課前布置所有同學(xué)回家觀看電影《逃離克隆島》,這部電影探討了科隆人及其引發(fā)的道德問(wèn)題。
