  推薦信是一種說明申請人的人品和能力的應用文體。出國留學推薦信是由出國留學申請人所在國內就讀大學的學;蛞郧熬妥x過的學校的教授,向申請學校寫的推薦人學的信函。申請學?梢酝ㄟ^推薦信來了解申請人在學校成績、學業(yè)成就、工作能力、在校期間表現以及申請人性格特征等方面的情況。
  
  出國留學推薦信是出國留學申請材料之一,對申請人錄取及獎學金的獲得有重大意義。信函一律用英文書寫。推薦信的格式與一般書信基本相同,如信頭、發(fā)信日期、收信人姓名、稱呼、信尾謙稱、簽名、推薦人姓名與身份等都是必需的。在內容上,出國留學推薦信應包括推薦人與被推薦人的關系、被推薦人在校表現、成果等,對申請人最突出的方面則應加以著重介紹。態(tài)度要適度贊揚,但又不可空洞。
  
  推薦信的語言風格應該清晰流暢,言簡意賅,并且每封推薦信的語言風格應該有所區(qū)別。推薦信可以和申請表一起寄出,但要記得在信封正面寫上推薦人和對方學校的聯(lián)系地址,以便核查。
  
  〔文本結構及內容要點〕
  
  稱呼讀信人應為申請學校的教授,用“親愛的xx先生”即可。
  
  推薦人與被推薦人的相識推薦信是留學目的地學校了解推薦者的重要依據,所以十分看重推薦信的真實可靠性。因此,推薦信要首先交代推薦人與被推薦人的關系,從而表明對后者的知情程度和推薦的權威性。如表明推薦人的身份及與被推薦人的關系(師生關系、土、下級領導關系等);雙方認識的時間和熟悉程度等。如果你是應屆本科生畢業(yè),常常要有兩個任課的教授寫推薦信―一個專業(yè)課老師,一個基礎課老師,一個從專業(yè)角度推薦,另一個則從基礎素質角度推薦。
  
  被推薦人在校期間的表現對被推薦者的優(yōu)點介紹及評價,這是推薦信的核心。主要包括被推薦者的天賦、品行及個性、學習精神、學習成績、研究能力、工作經驗、組織能力等。注意說辭應與其他申請材料如成績單、獲獎證書等相呼應。其中,各種能力要素及取得的成果往往是獲取留學資格的關鍵,應該加以突出,如扼要陳述能夠說明被推薦人的能力的事實,但切勿夸大其詞,而幾這些事實必須與所申請的職位或者所攻讀的專業(yè)相關。
  
  結論意見愿意推薦或不愿意推薦,無保留或有所保留的推薦,普通推薦或極力推薦,必須明確,當然極力推薦為最好,應建議申請學校對申請惠予考慮、錄取或聘用。
  
  請求應以委婉的語氣提出,避免出現“應該”、“必須”等口氣強硬的詞。有時也可以總結全文或表示謝意結束。

  1.申請人外語水平優(yōu)異,應該寫出具體分數,若勉強合格則可不談。
  
  2.推薦信要言簡意賅,語氣要熱情誠懇,介紹申請人成績要實事求是,切忌主觀點評式的又缺乏事實根據的推薦評語,要有具體的事例說明。同時為了增加推薦信的真實性,寫少量并不重要但很中肯的小缺點不失為一種聰明的策略。

As a matter of fact, Prof. Linda s electronic lab happened to be neighboring my office and I could always see him working in the lab, either repairing the instruments or helping Prof. Linda collect lab reports. Maybe one more example will demonstrate his commitment more clearly. Once he suggested compiling a FORTRAN program to solve a complicated circuit problem in his class. In order to do that, he had to do a lot of computer work. However, because there were few computers available in our computer lab, he had to wake up at 5 a.m. in winter (please note: ”Twin city“ is a downtown near the north border of China, so it is pretty cold in winter and the heating system is not working very well.) to ensure the 1st position of the long waiting line for his classmates and himself! At last he and his classmates finished the program successfully with his great efforts.
  
  As to his personality, I would like to say Mr. Caleb is a warm-hearted, honest and upright student. He was always ready to help others. During my lectures, many students got confused at some points and I could always see Mr. Caleb help them explain during breaks. In the meanwhile, I must admit that Mr. Caleb was a bit impatient sometimes.
  
  Finally, I would like to conclude my recommendation as follows: frankly, Mr. Caleb is not a genius, but I promise his great intelligence, commitment to work and his kind nature will impress you deeply.   (一)與申請者的關系:表達清楚何種方式認識。譬如說是老師、指導教授,老板等。說明交往多久,如果是教授學生關系,對教授的科目做一個簡短的說明,如果推薦信者是你的老板(主管),請詳細說明你的工作職責。

  如果推薦人是工作主管,首先一定要仔細陳述申請人的工作職責,并對申請者工作表現作一評估。如果可能的話盡量列舉實例。
  
  “When (name) held the position of (job title) in this company she was one s/he was one of my best employees. His/her job responsibilities included (describe them), and s/he carried out his/her duties with exceptional skill and professionalism.”

  第二段最后一段:可以提及申請人在班上(或公司里)的比較表現(譬如排名):
